I've hit the 2 year mark since I found out I have hpv. My last pap was negative in July. I have had no symptoms of hpv other than a biopsy taken a year ago. My boyfriend however due to extreme stress this year has had warts since feb. He has gotten them burned off and had new ones show up. We were having sex up to a year before he got any signs of hpv. He is getting them burned off again this month because he has insurance again. We have not had sex since feb because he does not want to use a condom. ( I know) My question is if he has no visible warts and I think my hpv has gone dormant will it flare back up in me due to being exposed to him. I know I will not get reinfected I just wonder if my body will reactivate it again. I worry about him. It seems like his body is having such a tough time fighting it. I'm really hoping it won't be like this forever.

Did you have low or high risk?
If you found out you have HPV from a pap smear im assuming you had high risk?
And if hes showing warts thats the low risk type.

My doctor stated that Ill always hpv and sometimes it will show up on tests or not due to stress and the way my immune system is at the time.
So its possible to still infect others even if your test come up normal.
The whole HPV unknowns is the worst part.
But as for him and his condition he should really try not to stress out because stress causes outbreaks supposedly.

I initially was told not to wory about warts. My initial diagnosis was high risk but when I steated seeing my gyn and had colposcopies and such the labs came back as low risk and a side note that they can't rule out high risk. So I guess I hit the jackpot that no one wants to get. : (

I am assuming his warts are genital, and not on his hands per se.

Will your HPV flare back up? The high risk HPV - that is always a possibility (the way I understand the research). The low risk HPV - it is possible for you to get them again (the way I understand it). I have to say, though, that I "understand" (cough cough*) high risk HPV better than low risk HPV.

* = like *anyone* understands hpv! HA, right. . . .
