Good Morning,
Last year I had hammertoe surgery on the second toe on each foot. As the stitches were too tight, I had surgery again to correct them a year ago. Unfortunately, my left foot toe has risen up and is very uncomfortable. I saw a new doctor yesterday who said he can do surgery to correct this. He said floating toes are always difficult, but he will remove a little more bone and the toe will drop down to where it should be. Since my first two surgeries did not go as well as I expected, I am very nervous about a third surgery, even though this is with a new doctor that was recommended to me by a friend who had bunion surgery.

I am looking for anyone who has experienced floating toe and had surgery to correct it. Would appreciate any opinions. Thanks

i have floating 2nd toe. had it after hammertoe surgery. the original dr tried everything, but it didnt work(no surgery involved). the 2nd dr i went to, removed quite a bit of scar tissue and the toe went down somewhat. needless to say its still floating, but not as bad. i did pt and used everything imaginable. if you do this surgery i want to know if it works! first ask him about scar tissue before another surgery and make sure you get a 2nd and possibly a 3rd opinion.
