Hey all, first time poster here. My husband and I just decided (yesterday) that we are ready to have a baby. I'm really REALLY concerned that this is not an option for us since I am morbidly obese (366lbs, 6' tall). In addition to, or because of, my being overweight, I don't have periods AT ALL unless I am on birth control...which I am not on. Is there anyone out there with similar problems that can give me advice or tell me your story? I desperately want a baby and don't want to wait several years until I reach a "safe" weight. We all know that there aren't any sure bets out there when it comes to dieting and I don't want to go through all the yo-yoing. Overweight women have babies everyday. Do I still have hope? Am I just toooo overweight for this to happen? What can I do to find a fat-friendly ob-gyn that won't make me feel like a disgusting, worthless human being who shouldn't get pregnant at this weight?

I thank anyone who can help me out with this!!! You can e-mail me at heinysmom@aol.com. I would appreciate it if you could email me directly because I have a hard time functioning with my computer and will most likely never be able to find this site again.

Thanks a million!

Hi, just thought that i would reply because i thought that i couldnt even get pregnant at my weight. i am like 400+ and 6`1 and i had no periods at all also, until i had gastric bypass and lost like a 100 pnds.
Now they come regular, but i did gain most of that back sadly to say. Anyways i just recently got pregnant but had a miscarige at like 6weeks. Dont know if its do to my weight or not. i have heard that being obese makes you have a high risk pregnancy though. but i cant say thats why i miscarried, because i was on different pain pills without knowing i was pregnant, and that definitely will increase the risk of miscarige. but overall be incouraged i think you will have a safe pregnacy just take it easy. OH, my obgyn was very friendly she never mentioned my weight as being a problem.

puff,

There is women everyday out there who are BBW and have babies. Have you been tested for PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome)? I would go see your doc and ask for some tests on why you are not regular. There is medication out there to help get you on track with ttc (trying to conceive). Also, I am on a support group for women who are BBW and ttc. Email me and let me know if you would like more info. mistya@direcway.com

I have been ttc for about 20 months and I am going through infertility treatments and assistive reproduction. I hope you will acheive your dreams as I am dreaming of one day having my baby!

Take care and hope to hear from you!

Hi, I am overweight and my regular OBGYN kept telling me thats why I was having trouble conceiving. (I was smaller than my Dr too.) I didn't think that was true, because I see large women all the time with babies. After trying with no help for 2 years I went to a fertility specialist. He did tests. I am still overweight about 208 and he never mentioned it. Turned out I had a spetum in my uterous (its like cartlidge, that I was born with). He removed most of it and after a year off from trying due to a job change I went back because AF was regular, but I didn't think I was ovulating. He prescribed a low dosage of Clomid for 5 days. And low and behold I found out I am pregnant last week!! This is my first so I am praying all goes well!!! Don't give up, find you a doctor you are comfortable with and work on something to make sure you are ovulating! Good luck to you! And Baby dust too!!! Look forward to seeing you in the pregnancy board. Keep us posted on your progress!
