Hi, I finally had the essure done on Aug 12th. It is the best thing I have ever done. I knew I did not want kids early on in life. Does not mean I don't like them or love them it just means I did not want any of my own.
Now, to my question, Has anyone who has had this done have smelly yellow discharge a couple days after? If so what was the cause? I still have this issue and it does worry me. I have not had intercourse since the Essure because it takes 3 months for the tubes to be blocked and I do not want to take any chances. I go back on the 18th to check to see if they are blocked. Could I have some type of infection? what can they give me for that?
thanks for your time in advance.

I have not had this done personally, and have actually started looking into a permanent birth control method. I can't stay on the pill forever and like you, I never want kids of my own.
Anyway, as for the discharge youre experiencing, I had something similar when I got a dry socket from wisdom teeth removal. It wasn't infected, but the wound itself would smell bad and I would taste a yucky liquid coming off of it sometimes. It's just the healing process. You gotta remember those coils are causing scar tissue to close up your tubes.
By all means, I would contact your doctor because it may be possible that it might slightly be infected. If you get swelling, pain, and heat in your abdomen, those are tell tell signs of serious infection. If it comes down to it, they will probably put you on some type of oral antibiotic and if that doesn't work, they might have to remove the coils completely.
I wish you luck, keep us posted!
