Hi,
i am a 20 year old male that has just been diagnosed with this virus. i really do not know what to think of this because i had so many other things in planned in life, and now i don't feel like i have one at all. I'm desperate to know if their is any kind of experimental drugs i can take or anything. Cause the way i look at it right now is that, is that i am going to be single for the rest of my life and never have the chance to have kids. What do i do?

I understand your worries and concerns. I am a little confused though. What type of HPV were you diagnosed with? high risk or low risk?

well the doctor basically looked at it and said that is what it is, i didn't even know about high or low risk until i came on to this website. if i could be filled in more i would truly appreciate it.

Confused, you might start by looking at the Center For Disease Control (in the USA). They have a lot of information about HPV. If the doctor "looked at it" then it sounds like you have low risk HPV (which causes genital warts). I'm sorry, but I don't know much about those. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Confused, make sure you go to your doctor and get the warts treated.

I have been reading about low and high HPV and they do say warts are low risk but, but..........may be a chance of high risk. What treatment have you and the doctor discussed?

My understanding is that low risk HPV lead to warts, not cancer. High risk HPV can lead to cancer (if undetected/untreated), not warts. They don't cross over. It *IS* possible to have both types of HPV at the same time (and multiple strains of each type).

Hi guys, just wanted to clarify my 'quote'. Pickle eyes is very knowledgable and I always enjoy reading her posts. Low risk HPV is said to cause warts but HPV of genital area can be low or high risk-----I had warts removed (acid tests done twice after that and abnormal cells found and biopsied) and that led to them finding HPV infection in my vulva area (VIN III). I think I am a rare case, or hope I am anyway. Do not want to upset or scare anybody but there are so many different types of cases that it is crucial to see your doctor and follow up with them as instructed!
