Has anyone ever had a day where the clothes that you have on actually hurt your body? I am sick right now, too, so I dont know if that has something to do with it or not, but my shirt, which isn't tight or anything is hurting my skin. It almost feels like it's burning it. I feel like i need to take it off. I get so sick of this pain sometimes. I haven't even been given a definitive diagnosis. But I'm telling you, I have something wrong with me. My pdoc says that they ruled everything else out, so it has to be fibromyalgia. I go back to a second rheumy in November where it will probably be confirmed. Anyway. Thanks for listening. Hope everyone is having a relatively pain free day.

Skin sensitivities are a typical FMS symptom. Even a breeze blowing on your skin can feel like a cutting knife. You may experience rashes, eczema, nonpustular acne, seborrhea, hives, rosacea, large red patches, tiny red bumps, scaly and dry areas or small blistered eruptions. Under test studies, it has been found that fibro patients stockpile histamine, a strong perpetrator of allergic reactions. You might try taking a benedryl to see if it will help relieve the pain you are experiencing. AmLactin or Lac Hydrin is a great lotion to use regularly to help baby your delicate, sensitive skin.

Blessings,

Hi,
I'm reallly sorry you're experiencing this. I know exactly what you mean, people who havn't had it just don't understand they barely even have to touch you! I think mine's to do with the nerves. My doc has prescribed various things which have worked for a while. At the moment I'm on carbamezapine, which I believe is an anti-convulsant, but seems to be working at the moment. I hope you manage to find something that works for you and that today is a better day day than yesterday! hugs x

I have had fibro for 15 years. My toes and my feet, my fingers and hands, are SO sensitive. I have 4 dogs and if they pass their claws over any of them it is so excrutiating that sometimes I feel faint. I also have constant pins and needles in my arms and legs up to the elbow and knee. When I am in a flare my watch hurts so much I have to take it off. It's a classic fibro thing.

I Know what you mean about dogs! I have 2 dogs that jump on me and it hurts! Especially when they stand on my arms (they are under 15 lbs.) I
noticed when they run across my feet too that it hurts. They are lap dogs and sometimes I can't handle it. So they have learned to sit by me.
I use to like a lot of blankets on me but sometimes even a bed sheet can be
uncomfortable.
I'm just starting to realize that my beloved levis are getting uncomfortable since they are so thick and heavy that I'm wearing more sweats, leggings,or nylon exercise short pants. Good thing for light t-shirts too.
So, does fibro cause itching? I take tramadol and I know that causes itchiness.
I hate that all over itchiness that really drives me crazy like there's all these bugs crawling all over me.

I have that sensitivity, too. I get it at my left wrist and forearm, and especially on my whole upper thighs. Sometimes on my neck, scalp and shoulders. I've described it as feeling like I've been scalded so that even a slight breeze or gentle touch hurts. I used to have it all the time for several years, but now it comes and goes, and varies in intensity. Just to make it interesting, I suppose.

This was one of my main symptoms at the beginning. Neurontin is the only thing that gets rid of the burning for me. At onset, I couldn't stand anything to touch my skin but a light sheet and my underwear. I got as many soft clothes as i could.

November is too long to wait to see a rheumy. I would try to get in sooner to someone else. I was diagnosed by an internal med dr, a rheumy, and a neurologist all at initial onset. I waited a few months to see a pain mgmt doc and it really made everything worse. the burning skin was the very beginning for me. I went through hell after that, but I am so much better now. i hope you get a good dr, it makes all the difference.

I have very sensitive skin so I am very careful about the material I wear. Believe it or not, it can be 100 degrees outside and while everyone is gone to work at my house, the air is turned off because I can't stand it blowing on me, nor the fans... If I have to have it on, I wear a jacket... I wear light weight sweat pants, sleeveless shirt, socks and I have to wear my tennis shoes or my feet really start up with the pins and needles. Sometimes, I can't stand for anyone to touch me, so yes, I guess I am antisocial also ;). Today, I can't hardly move, I took a shower and it won. how pathetic. I had to sit in the dentist chair for 2 hours yesterday and the chair about killed me and now I have dr appointments everyday for the rest of the week. I have to get ready for bed now.

Oh, and the sheets, some of them kill me so I am down to two sets.

Gentle hugs to all, Jenn
