Hello Everyone...I am wondering if anyone here has gotten implant supported dentures and what their opinion of them is. I recently got my full plate lower denture, acrylic, and know after 2 weeks that they will never supply the biting strength that I desire. My dentist is suggesting two implants with snaps to stabilize them. Is this sufficient or are more implants the ultimate solution ? Any advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I have four implants and they work very well. I would be VERY cautious about two. You need four to eliminate rocking. The procedure for installing the locators into the denture is 2 at a time. Install the front two and wait a week for installation of the other two. When I had the front two only I had to use adhesive. With the four installed I can eat corn on the cob and big steaks with no problem. Also, be extremely cautious about the dentist's experience and qualifications. I had to go to a second dentist (specialist) to get the locators installed properly. Installing the locators to align with the posts is very critical and require expertise and experience.....
