Hello,

i have a colonoscopy scheduled in about 12 days. The main reason for this is tremendous pressure and tightness in my backside that has been present off and on for the last three years since my last hemorrhoidectomy. It has been especially bad the last 5 weeks and has rarely let up in that time.

My concern now is that i think i may have developed more hemmorrhoids and it is compounding the problem. I have been scoped many times in the past but am worried about the prep if i'm still feeling the way i do now when time comes.

Having umpteen bowel movements i'm sure is not going to do the hemmorrhoids any good if present and inflamed already. Maybe i'm being silly but i just don't want to get in the middle of the prep and be in intense pain due to this from too many bowel movements.

Any comments would be welcome, thanks.

I also had hemorrhoids surgery years ago and have tightness. I developed an anal fissure that doesn't want to heal and I had to do the prep for the colonoscopy and the colonoscopy itself. This did aggravate the situation for me but it's been a few weeks and things are slowly getting less uncomfortable. They found a grade 1 internal hemmie and said to leave it alone. I also have some anal skin tags from the fissure. I'm seeing a surgeon in a few day and am scared too. The good news though is that the rest of my colon is clean and I don't need another colonoscopy for 10 years. That tightness you are feeling may also be spasming of the sphincter muscle. That is very uncomfortable and can last for hours. Go ahead with the test and find out what is causing you so much discomfort. At least when you find out they'll be able to help you. Unless someone has had rectal problems they have no idea how much pain can come from that area. I wish you well and hope you feel better soon. Suzy
