I am 17 weeks post lapidus. I hobbled into my obgyn's only to find that I have breast cancer. I am sceduled for lumpectomy, chemo, radiation rebuild....a long process. I still am not totally healed from lapidus....plus no idea if chemo will slow bone growth. Not ready for another ordeal. How long did it take until your fusion was a non-issue. In other words when could you stand all day and exercise ?

Hi Donna,
I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis of breast CA. They say, when it rains, it pours. I hope it will be highly treatable. In recovering from my Lapidus surgery, it took about a year before I could stand all day. You've had the surgery, and now your foot will get better. Your oncologist would be the best person to answer your questions about treatment interfering with bone growth. It depends on which protocol and medications they will be using.
I'll be praying for you.

my surgeon is quite progressive. At 8 weeks I was told I could do whatever I wanted. At 3 months I still had a patial non-union on x-rays, but my docotr said that is why the screws are in there, to hold everything until the bone heals and it could take up to 6 months. He said I'm free to do whatever I want (i'm stillnot running, but I'm walking and cycling)
good luck
