Any reason to be concerned with occasional groupings of heart beats (2 to 4) in a row, in a minute. The rate is 58 to 65 beats a minute but during that time, I've checked a whole minute and had 6 to 7 occurrances of 2 to 4 beats during that time, in a row. In other words 1&2&3 and then 1-2-3 or 1-2-3-4, rapid beats together. This happens off and on and I notice it more when I'm sitting quietly. I occasionally have 'skipping' but this was diagnosed as PVC's and I even had a stress test and cardiac cath in 2004 and declared my heart was 'ok'. At age 70 and female, and under alot of extra stress lately, but otherwise in good health, I'm wondering is this anything to be concerned about? I have mentioned this to my primary doctor and he always says it's nothing to worry about. Since I was released by my Cardiologist back in 2004, I wonder if, since this has only begun to be more often, if I need to pursue it by seeing him again. Anyway--any comments would be appreciated. thanks.

Stress can definitely be a factor in this heart rhythm. My mother-in-law is in her seventies. She and my father-in-law went to her regular doctor appointment but they had had an argument before she went in. She was very flustered and stressed.

The appointment showed some irregularities in her heart rhythms. When she got back to the house, they had ordered her to get an EKG at the mobile EKG van a week or so later. I assured her that it was very normal for heart rhythms to be strange when you are upset or stressed.

She had the EKG under comfortable frame of mind and everything checked out just fine.

If you feel you need to see the cardiologist again, do explain to him any stresses you are going through as they can take that into consideration.

Stay well and let us know how you are doing!

Lindaru :)
