I had surgery on for bilateral bunionnettes on June 9 and it's not over yet.
Left foot - Exostectomy
3 or 4 weeks in post op shoe then tennis shoes. Some tenderness issues up to about 11 weeks, but doing great now, thank goodness.
Right foot - Chevron osteotomy
6 weeks NWB, 6 weeks walking in post of shoe, 1 week walking in tennis shoes and then.... OUCH! Over the course of the next week pain got more and more in a totally new spot until I got so swollen I could no longer get my tennis shoe on. Went back to the doctor and he is certain I've got a stress fracture in my midfoot. So now I'm sentenced to a boot for another 3 weeks minimum.
I must say, it's nice to be able to walk, not pain free, but not cringe with every step. I am a much happier person now that I don't hurt so much, but when will this all end? Doc wants an MRI just to rule out ligament injury or anything else. Trying to stay positive, but it isn't always easy.

He is super good. The whole office is. If they weren't, I would have found a nice cozy place and just cried nonstop by now.
My foot is feeling better when I wear the boot. As soon as I walk without it, MISTAKE. The spot that hurts so much to touch is still very tender. I'm fighting to get the MRI approved right now. They have until Friday at 4pm to call me or else I call them like the doctor's office recommended.
I'm finally getting used to seeing my feet without the bunions. That is pretty cool!

Well... The doctor's office has a contract with a place that gets the authorization and schedules. So a request was sent to this company who has to get the authorization. But, my insurance company has a contract with a place that approves the authorizations. Too many 3rd parties. I spoke to both today and it is definitely the approval that is the hold up. If I just sit back and wait it could take 3 weeks. I don't have that much time until my next appointment when the scan is supposed to be done.
My fight is to get the authorization as quickly as I can. It will get approved, just a matter of how long it will take.

I made it to 17 weeks PO! Too bad the news wasn't better. I officially have two stress fractures (base of 1st metatarsal and intermediate cuneiform) and 4 stress reactions (bases of 2nd through 5th metatarsals). I am sentences to my boot for another 4 weeks which makes a total of 8. I never thought something like 5th metarsal bunion ssurgery could go on this long. Pretty much, I overdid it once I got to wear shoes (going back to work, tennis shoes, and loads of traveling). Take it slow! I will be for sure once I get freed from my big, black, monster, of which I have to buy a new one.
