I had my first and so far only kidney stone about 20 years ago. Knew right then and there that I didn't want another one. So far, so good.........at least until I had a recent CAT scan that had to do with a hysterectomy that I'm to have next week. I found out yesterday that it also showed that I have a few calcifications in the kidney. I said "you mean kidney stones" and the nurse said yes. I didn't think to ask the doctor anything about them since I was too involved in the surgery questions. I wondering what I should do at this point. Should I just want for them to "start moving". Should I meet with a urologist to see if anything can be done before they get larger, etc.
I was hoping that I could be lucky but looks as if I'll have a problem with this at some point. I have no clue as to how long it takes these to develop.
Would appreciate any help.

When I was 40, I had to have an emergency hysterectomy and a Urologist put a stent in to keep the stones where they were until 3 weeks after the hysterectomy. I'm sorry you have another stone. I know what that's like as I've had stones off and on since I was in my 20's. If I were you, I'd see a Urologist before an emergency situation arises. If your stones are small enough, you may be able to pass them at some point. Good luck.
