I had a breast reduction 1 year ago and have only just recovered. Within one week of the surgery I began sympotoms of an infection, phoned my surgeon immediatly and was given a refill on the antibiotic prescribed for post op. At that time the surgeon began to cut dead tissue away from the surgical site, never culturing the tissue he had cut only stating it didn't make it through. 3 weeks later after several calls and visits to the surgeon who only continuted to remove dead gooey green tissue. I went to a dr to ask about scarring. This dr knew immediately I had a infection and did a culture. Upon reciept of the results showing MRSA, pseuodomonas, and cellulitis I contacted the surgeon who did my surgery he became angry telling me I was not sick enough for IV thereapy and only gave me an additional oral antibiotics. One week later I went to the ER in severe pain (although I had been in severe pain for almost 4 wks now) and was admitted by infectious desease drs. I know this is a life threating disease and want to find out if anyone knows if there is any corrolation between a large hematoma and infection post op. Because the area of large tissue loss was were I had a very large hematoma. I have searched and searched and continue to hit walls. Doctors don't seem to want to help me. Any ideas would be helpful.
