View Full Version : Can anyone tell me about enterococcus, pseudomonas or citrobacter?

I have a four year old who has had recurrent UTI's. She has now been infected with citrobacter and pseudomonas twice. I know that she has also been infected with enterococcus, although I don't know how many of the infections included this one.
The UTI's have come back in spite of treatment with Macrodantin and Septra as profelaxis (sp?). She has been taking Cipro for the last week, but is already showing symptoms of another UTI. This is her fourth round of Cipro since January. This round of Cipro followed three days of injections with Ceftriaxone.
I am not sure of where these bacteria might have come from. The question that I have been asked a couple of times is if she had been hospitalized prior to these infections. She was not. I have become a complete germophobe. I don't know how to protect her from these... Anyone know anything about this?
