Hi,
My husband has a bad case of the chicken pox. He didn't have them as a kid and he was vaccinated, but he got chicken pox before he could get the booster shot. His doctor has him on acyclovir.
The rash is really bothering him. He tells me that he itches and hurts so badly that he cannot get any rest and can't find a comfortable place to lay. What can I do for the rash? It also has him very embarressed, since he is a grown man.

He has extreme fatigue and a high fever too. What can I do for that? He is laying in bed and I have given him Tylenol, but it doesn't seem to be helping much!

Any advice would be appreciated.

This really just proves a point about vaccination in the first place and shows that it is not 100% successful. It is a shame that he did not get chickenpox as a kid, as he would then have had lifelong immunity and would not have got it now. I had it as a kid and was never vaccinated and have never had any problems since. Naturally acquired immunity is always better.

Anyway, as for the chicken pox. Do not give Tynelol for the fever. A fever is the body's natural response to infection and once it has burnt off the virus, the temp will fall naturally, so do not interfere with this process. Instead, make sure that he drinks plenty of fluids, insigate fan therapy, although not directly on him or his temp will raise again and tepid sponging if this fails. Also, ensure that he does not have too many bedclothes on and let some air into the room.

The homeopathic remedy that is indicated for the treatment for chicken pox is RHUS TOX. Try some of this and it should help with the itching and the fever too.

If this does not work, then you can try BELLADONNA to help the fever and then APIS for the itching, if it is intense. Apis is a good remedy for hives.

These are homeopathic remedies and are totally different from herbal remedies. You can get them from any healthfood store.

Good luck

Yes, we use calamine lotion for his chicken pox. You are not too late...adult cases seem to last alot longer and be alot more severe.
