What is the usual prescribed amount for a bacterial infection of the prostate? I was given a prescription for 250mg tablets, three times per day (total daily amount: 750mg). I should take it for 14 days. Is this an effective or good dosage?

Hey there,
About 2 years ago, my Doc gave me Cipro for a suspected case of infection in my prostate. My dosage was 500mg, twice a day. The first course was for 3 days which did not fix the problem. The second course was for 10 days, which again did not fix the problem. Cipro is a powerful antibiotic - I hope I never have to take it again. Watch out for the side affects.
When that did not relieve my symptoms, he then refered me to a Urologist who told me to take ProstaQ. The ProstaQ made my symptoms go away gradually over about 6 weeks.

Cipro is very powerfull. Just make sure you eat before you take it. It made very sick to my stomach.
Your dr. probely knows what kind of bacterial infection you are dealing with and prescribed cipro because cipro is not resistant to the type of infection you have.
Good luck
