Hi there, new to all this, but here goes, i have a 13yr old boy with ADHD/ODD/ASD, he was diagnosed at 5 yrs old, lifes always been hard, but now its awful!!! He wants to stay out late, go where he wants, hang out with who he wants, i used to be able to talk to him and reason with him but, now he wont talk just shouts tells me to butt out and stop ruining his life, i understand much of this may be down to just simply being a teenager, but how much and where do i draw the line, i have no idea how to deal with this, could someone offer some advice, things that have worked for them maybe, i dont want to keep fighting with him all the time!! Oh yea he takes 59mgs of Ritalin, 6 mg of Melatonin and 1000mg of EPA fish oil daily .

Bikerbabe: Hi--while some of this may very well be attributable to being a teen, a red flag is going off. You need to draw a line right now and seek professional guidance. ADD kids ESPECIALLY need boundaries and guidance. In fact, given the span of problems you may need to place him in a group home for a bit for teens. Call your local mental health center and best of luck. Magilla45

hi there - i have a 13 year old with exactly the opposite problem - he is a loner, has no friends and has no interest in going out or doing anything with anyone - he says that is who he is but it really frustrates me that he is anti-social. with regard to your issue - has your son been professionally assessed? has you tried other meds? our son has been on concerta since he was 9 and aside from the social issues it has really worked very well.
