well i visited numoruos sites checking on male yeast infections.... i found some pictures and that looks exactly like what i have... i was told to buy some yeast infection cream...didnt work...so i bought some monistate 7 and that sorta cleared it up but when i get hard i can still see the yeast infection sometimes. SO im wondering is this really a yeast infection or is this something else? i treated for the yeast infection and it went away for a while and now the thing is back.... what do i do?

How long did you use the cream for? Do you have a sexual parner? There is alot of debate about whether yeast ifections can be passed through sexual intercouse, some say yes, some say no. Is it possible that your sexual partner has this and is reinfecting you or visa versa?
This may sound obvious, but change your underwear frequently and stay away from tight pants for awhile.

For awhile, I though I had a yeast infection going on. The skin on my ***** would be red, and there appeared to be yeast around my foreskin.
My doctor gave me some prescription creams which seemed to work for a few days, but then the problem would come right back.
After a few months, I figured I either had the most incredibly resistant strains of yeast living on me, or the problem was being caused by something else.
I decided to see if it had something to do with my lfiestyle. I started bycutting out all of the foods I would normally eat and went on a very bland diet (rice, toast, banana's, etc.). I also began to get more fresh air and excerising more, drinking more water and getting more sleep.
After about 2 weeks, I found my "infection" had gone away on its own. I then began introducing foods back into my diet. I was fine with almost everything except for....mushrooms! Yup, I used to eat handfuls of mushrooms and loved them. But for whatever reason, I reacted to them (and actually still do).
A few people I've spoken with theorize that it's because they are a fungus and that I react to that.
Anyhow, I've cut out mushrooms, and I also eat less sugars and drink alot less beer (yeasty and sugary foods are cut back, just in case).
So take a look at your diet. Do you eat a lot of one type of food? IF no, try cutting out everything then slowly introducing it back in.
Good luck!

The guy above was on the right track but missing a few ingrediants....here are some specifics....
First, most people do not realize that all yeast infections originate in the COLON, and so that is where they need to be attacked. You need to go on an anti-candida diet and take a high-quality probiotic supplement like Primal Defense (available at any Vitamin Shoppe or online). There is lots of detailed info available on anti-candida diets, but the general rule of thumb as the above poster mentioned is to cut out or seriously curtail all forms or sugar, fermented food (like alcohol, vinegar), yeast-containing foods like breads and cakes, and all fungi. Do this for about 2-3 weeks while taking the probiotic (which is necessary to both kill the yeast and to give your colon the good bacteria that the yeast has destroyed).
That is the only way to truly eradicate the yeast, otherwise if you just treat the symptoms were they are locally occuring, they will just keep coming back and most likely getting worse too. Trust me, I have been through this, and successfully.

I'm sorry to be contradictory RageofAngels, but that view about subclinical yeast infections and all of that anti-candida diet is something that is opposed by conventional medicine...NOT because we want to make more money, but because through numerous studies that have been done on it, there is little evidence to show that it exists.
The problem with male yeast infections (which usually result in balanitis..i.e. inflammation of the head of the penis) is that they have to be treated for a long time. By long time, I mean, continuous application of the antifungal (usually it's ketoconazole) for a period of up to 13 days. You have to do it religiously or else you give the yeast a chance to grow back. The other thing is, it is probably best to avoid sexual contact for a while, but if this is not possible, then two things
#1. You're a lucky man http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
#2. Use a condom
#3. Okay I lied..three things....take a shower afterwards and make sure you clean your genitals very well (especially if you are not circumcised)
After about 5-6 days of treatment, the small bumps you see on your skin (which are called blebs) will probably go away, but keep treating it for at least 10 days! The infection may still be there microscopically.
Male external yeast infections almost always come from unprotected sexual contact. Now, I know that if you're with a partner you've been with for a long time, most of us (including myself) don't use condoms. The point is, it's probably best to have a shower after sex (esp. if uncircumcised) so that the yeast don't have a chance to grow if, perchance, your girlfriend did have a yeast infection.

I recently recovered from a Yeast Infection. My fiancee and I are very sexually active and very clean, however, it still happens. I noticed it when we were having sex and when we were finished i noticed 2 small bumps on the head of my penis. I was a little worried. The next day, she started having the "ricotta cheese" so I knew it was exactly that, a yeast infection. We went to the store and got a 1 day treatment for her which came with monostat 7.
It didn't really bother me that much but it started spreading so I used the monostat on myself. It seemed to keep it under control pretty well. It cleared up in about 3 days but it also seemed to dry me out. I felt chapped around my foreskin, so I switched to vasoline for a day and was back to normal and comfortable again.
I just wanted to share with anyone who has a yeast infection because it's not pleasant.
3 to 4 days of monostat followed by vasoline works very well.

Oh and I almost forgot. We were able to have sex anyway because we actually bought some condoms (hate em) but whatever works.

I think I might have a yeast infection. I started feeling itchy on my scrotum the other night. When I woke up it was kind of red, and I also noticed some small bumps around my groin and on the scrotum. The whole area (aside from my penis itself) is really dry and red now, and it is starting to crack in some places. There aren't many bumps left anyway. I used monistat 3 for two nights now, and will use it tonight. THere are a few bumps on my penis now, not many, and none have broken open or begun to puss like herpes supposedly does. I have no other symptoms of anything - the only reason i really itch anymore is because it's so dry and cracks, and i have no discharge or anything else.
If this sounds like it's possible a yeast infection, or if you ahve any idea what it may be, please contact me. I plan on going to the doctor ASAP but i'm concerned irregardless.
thanks.

i think I may have a yeast infection... i don't see any bumps, but everyonce and a while, my penis gives off a yeasty odor.. if i wear silk boxers then I will smell it for sure. I had unprotected sex a few times with a girl that did have one. Is it safe to use a over the counter cream such as monistat, even if I do not have one for sure??

When an uncircumcised male contracts a yeast infection, is it better to leave the foreskin pulled back after an application of antifungal cream, or to roll it back up covering up the head of the penis?
-Thanks

I have worked for 28 years as a microbiologist, and would like to clear up a few hthings.
If you think you have a serious infection, don't guess at the cause, see a doctor and he can submit a specmen to someone like me and we can diagnose your problem.
If you really have a yeast infection, local treatments are not as effective as taking an oral dose of Diflucan.
Neosporin is a combination of three antibiotics and have no effect on yeast.
Yeast is all Around us and it is impossible to eliminate it from the environment
Shaving around the genitals prediposes you to infection.
Most important, any lesions or bumps on thr penis should be checked for VD.
