I am thinking of trying it. Please let me know if it worked for you or not. Your replies will be greatly appreciated.

hi there. Ive tried it for 2 months as my allergies are bad and im praying they ease as im developed anxiety through it. Neti pots in my opinion give the same relief as steam method - temporary. Ive tried everything and cannot rid of it.

Yes, I have tried the Neti pot for my sinuses. I agree with Richard that it is a temporary fix. I do not use it everyday as I should though.

I do have a friend who swears by it. She has used it faithfully for about 3-4 months now and does not have to use her sinus headache medicines any longer.

Give it a try and see what you think.

I havent tried that but have done the regular saline spray a few times daily as recommended by both my regular doctor and allergy doctor and it has helped tremendously.

I just started using one yesterday. (Well it's the squirt bottle kind, but same idea). My doctor recommended the same kind of thing because he's been doing it for many years and it helps his sinuses tremendously. He just snorts back the mixture of water, salt, and baking soda, and then blows it back out. Works great for him. These pots/squirt bottles just seem like an easier way to do it. He uses it once a week normally. But if his sinuses start to get a bit worse he goes back to daily use until they clear up again. It sounds like it something you have to get in the habit of doing even when your sinuses are not acting up.

My mother just started using a neti pot last week. She has chronic sinus infections and often has to take heavy decongestants and antibiotics. She finally got sick of that and tried the neti pot instead. Four days later her sinuses are clear and the sinus pressure headaches have ended. That was enough proof for me to buy one. Once the little packets run out I will probably try some different saline solutions in it. Some may work better for some than others.

YES!!! I started using a neti pot over the winter when i had stubborn sinus infection. It helped so much! When i had a infection or bad allergy bout i could irrigate up to 4 times a day. I have a spare pot at work since the air is really dry here. It helps headaches, flushing the snot etc. I use the sinucleanse packets or the new CVS brand, about 1/4 teaspoon of glycerin (seems to help the moisture last longer). I also added a humidifier in my living room.. that helped alleviate a lot of sinus pain

I wonder if anyone has found it useful for fighting off head colds, or if at least it helps you get over them faster. That would sure be great. At the beginning of this year I had two back to back head colds, each lasting over a month. I don't want that again this winter!

it definitely helps relieve symptoms. I will also add some peroxide if i feel like a cold or infection is coming on. I use about 1/2 a capful per neti pot. Using the peroxide you need to start with a little amount to see how sensitive you are. It burns like crazy if you get too much.

There are many concoctions that people use in the nasal irrigation

yes neti pot does help. I used and had no allergies for six months. I use with course sea salt. But lately I found also something that also helps: Tumeric. Its a supplement and has many advantages. Heals allergies, asthma, cancers. Read about it.

Well I've been trying the peroxide and yes it does seem to be helpful. But I've found that just a drop or two is plenty and still burns some.

Make sure you use filtered or distilled water. Who knows what chemicals are in tap water and the last thing you want to do is irritate the sensitive mucous membranes of your sinuses with chlorine. Have fun!

Ya know, I figured that would be the case as well, but I switched to using tap water and have not noticed a difference between it and the distilled water. Both work fine for me.

I've also upped the amount of peroxide I use (around 11-12 drops now), and I think it is very helpful. Doesn't burn at all. I'm just getting through a nasty head cold and used this combo all the way through. Normally when I'm sick I'm unable to sleep due to constant post nasal drip and eventually my sinuses close up until I can't breathe at all through my nose. But this time neither happened. I still got sick, but the rinses have really helped, and I'm at a point where I actually look forward to them because I feel so much better after using them. Without this thing I most likely would have a full blown sinus infection by now.

I want to love Neti Pot--but each time I use it I get MAJOR sinus pain the next day!!!!???
Why????
I am using a clean Neti and not too much salt.

does it seem like all the water is coming out? Yesterday i had an issue. I did not feel blocked at all. I used my neti at work because the air is so dry. Everything as usual, then every time i bent over more solution came out of my nose! so embarrassing! It was good that it was coming out but still! I've had a sinus headache for about 3 days and fluid in my middle ear for about 2. I tipped my head wrong using the neti. I hate it when i do that... and we have been having storm warnings so i get the headache back if i'm in a reprieve.

I was looking online for a neti-pot...but was told to just use a turkey baster. Haven't done it yet..but mom said it works like a charm.

i'm sure you could use that but cvs has a neti pot and a starter kit of the saline packets or a sinurinse bottle for about $15

I'm sure you know this, but please be careful with a turkey baster. The solution needs to be poured into the sinus', not squirted. Health food stores and speciality, organic, grocery stores generally carry neti pots. If I use a commercial net pot salt mix, it burns and causes problems for a couple days. I've found that sea salt works best. I would suggest using distilled or purified water since water quality can vary from one location to another.

That is not true.. the neilmed sinurinse bottle is not poured. It is highly recommended also. My ENT carries them in his office. I just think the turkey baster would be a bit awkward to use

I would think that squirting it could cause too much force on irritated nasal tissues and cause discomfort. It's all relative. Thanks for the correction.

Some need the force or like it. I haven't ventured there yet. It took me 20 yrs to try the neti pot and now i think how i had suffered! for nothing.. If you think about it the water pik method of hydro pulse is more force.
