My last period was either Oct or Nov '07 - most months just before my period would come I would have sore/tender breasts and once my period arrived they would be fine again, which was fine.
Now my question is - I have the sore/tender breasts with about 3/4 weeks but no sign of a period............Has anybody had this happen - the sore breasts but no period? I am beginning to wonder is it something that is wrong with my breasts or should I be worried? Would love to hear if any of you have this problem.:(

Hi,
Last winter my breasts were sore and very tender for at least 3 months, no period and constant pain. I see a breast specialist for my mamo, who is also a woman, and she told me its normal and to believe her it will get better. She was right it get go away so i'd say not to worry.

Oh, thank you so much for your reply.

It's just anytime I had the breast tenderness before was just before a period and then they were fine when it arrived. Now it has been almost a year since I had a period and my breasts are sore - about 5 weeks now and no period (thank god for that tho!) It is always good to hear somebody else has had this happen. Of course I get worried with every new symptom I get..........thanks again

Just to let you know I got my period on last Tuesday - after all that time - I really thought I was finished with it. At least my breasts are ok again but so disappointed that my period arrived again....oh, it could be worse i guess

I've had a lot of this over the years and began taking Vitex--a natural progesterone in capsule form that can be found in organic/alternative medicine stores--and it has made a 100% difference. I used to take it twice a day, then went to once a day...then whenever I remembered...hahaha...regardless, the sore breasts NEVER returned. <removed> Don't suffer like that. I wish I'd known 5 years before someone talked about it on here and saved myself the pain.

Dear Vintagegirl,

I have very tender, sore breasts. My fear of taking Vitex is the same as taking HRT. Will it quicken the growth of breast cancer should I ever have it like HRT does? Or is that somehow different because it is progesterone? My mom had breast cancer. That is why I don't do HRT.

Thanks so much and so glad for your relief!

I was just going to post about breast tenderness and then I found this one. I am 43 and in perimenopause. I still have a normal period every 29 days but now it lasts 3 days instead of 5. I am in the middle of the month. My period is not due until Nov. 1st. The last 3 days my breasts have been so tender. They really hurt. I usually get a little tenderness 7 to 10 days before. But this seems a bit more than usual. And too early. I was wondering if I jogged too much on my treadmill without a better sports bra. I am between a C and D cup. Then I got to worrying about this strange breast cancer that doesn't have lumps but is some weird red inflammation thing in the breast tissue.
Now I am freaked out that. I just had a mammogram in May and a cyst removed in July and all is well.

So my question is....does breast tenderness come with change in hormone levels? Should I be concerned? My surgeon Doctor who specializes in breasts says there is rarely if any breast pain with cancer. That is not a symptom. I don't think I am PG. My husband had a vasectomy. But who knows??

Hi. I am 49 years old. Had a hysterectomy about 13 years ago but still have one ovary. I was searching on here because obviously, I don't get a period anymore !! but, my one ovary must be doing something lately. My breasts have been killing me for over 3 months. Especially on the sides near the arm pits. They swell too and are extremely sensitive. I just had my yearly and had them examined by the doctor and a week or so later had my mammogram which hurt like heck because they were so sore. The mammogram was fine - I still worry though because 30% of cancers are missed by mammograms. Someone posted also about inflammatory breast disease which is very rare but NOT GOOD. I keep thinking I should go back to my gyn, but wanted to post here first and see how many of you have these issues? Thanks - MaryAnn

My breasts have been very sore for the last 3 days. Yesterday, I was outside for 3 hours at a softball practice and it was extremely windy and the temp dropped quite a bit during the afternoon. I was freezing by the end of practice. By the time I left, my breasts hurt so badly!! Just an ache right in the nipple area; both in the same area. Once I got in the car and got warm, I was fine, but I've never had that happen before!! Very weird, I know Anyone else ever experience that, or have any idea what might cause it?

I've had similar symptoms and my doctor said it's just hormones which are wacky at this age.
