My father has Serratia Marcescens? Does anyone know anything about this infectiion? Any information can help.

Serratia is a very nasty bug. It is resistant to alot of antibiotics. Cipro works well to kill of this nasty bacteria.

did he acquire this infection in the hospital? I would suggest getting an infectious disease doctor in and trying some antibiotics that are sensitive to serratia.

Serratia marcesens is a typical opportunistic bacilli that under usual conditions does not cause an infection. You didn't state the source, but the organism can cause a UTI, and if it is allowed to get established, can cause septicemia, osteomylitis. It is rersistant to most antibiotics, and a culture would be helpful.
