Have been reading and it looks as if these abx are resistant to your bacteria - DRUG SUSCEPTIBILITY: Sensitive to penicillin, streptomycin, tetrasulfathiazole, chloramphenicol, vancomycin
Now - CALL YOUR DOCTOR. This cannot be passed from human to human and it infects already bad tissue. It is a Strep Viridian - same name. Keep researching and calling doctors to get you better!!!! Don;t let them tell you it's nothing or they don't know -tug on their heartstrings - yell, anything!!! I also replied with some info in your post to me http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hi TRYINGTOFEELGOOD, I made 3 appts today 2 with infectious disease docs and 1 with newurosurgeon, i should be able to get them in before my ortho dsoc schedules surgery, so I can canscel if nessecary, thanks again for info but my oresent doc thinksa infection is gone so all I have is some oral clindamycin left but that doesn't seem to affect my pain at all. Present doc wants positive culture from my back during surgery before he will treat again so thats why I'm getting 2nd opinion in early nov. thanks for everything your friend

Hi Rick - SO glad you are getting second opinions and have appointments scheduled. I am SO sorry you are in so much pain. It has to be infected still. Do get a C Reactive Protein test, this will show infection if all else fails - although your SED rate shows a high one - so how does your present doc come to his findings that there is no infection anymore? I wish you the best - I just today found out from my mom that a friend of hers, son, had a root canal 4 months ago and has been in pain for 4 months (although the pain is in his back) he has been doing physical therapy - someone had the knowledge to ask if he had dental work done and he said oh my g-d 4 months ago I had a root canal. He has a STAPH infection in his spine now. Doctors are morons sometimes!!!! Dentists just need to go back to school and let go of their damn egos.
Best to you my friend,
Randi
I am just hanging and waiting for my HBO to start - hey, what about this as an adjunct therapy for you? Don't take NO for an answer. I know you are hurting but you have to be your own best advocate. Don't want to die just want something to end your pain, I know, stay calm and let's get through this thing.
in light and peace and sending healing waves,

tryingtofeelgood, I am seeing surgeon tommorrow to schedule surgery, and ID Doc wants a positive culture form biopsy of L-3-4 area b-4 he will treat with more antibiotics, as for his conclusion, he said that I had enough antibiotic therapy to kill the gemella bug but why do I still have symptoms? Doctors need to relieze that they are human and humans error all the time HUH? thanks and wish you good health and God bless,

PLease KEEP us updated! Best of luck to you - and the cultures will determine if the infection is still there. I hope it is not and you just need a bit more surgery to correct your horrific pain.
G-d bless you dear...

Hello my friend, I went to ortho doc who operated on me in dec 2002 and now after the last visit when he told me he wanted to operate and put in hardware, he appologizes for telling me that and says he will not operate now because I am a high risk surgery cantidate, that I will still have pain after surgery, He called my ID doc and discussed a biopsy for infection check and they both agreed that I have had enough antibiotics to kill gemella!!! I still have an elevated sed rate of 38 which is where it was when infection discovered !!!!I am still having alll the symptoms. I say to him " you just don't want to take on a 3 level fusion" and without looking me in the eye he says yes that is a three level fusion, period , what kind of answer is that????So just to appease me he says he will send me for second opinion to another ortho doc, I told him I need a neurosurgeons opinion and that went right through his ears also, so I did that on my own. I also have an appt. with another ID doc not connected to this circle of talking monkeys whgo I think are covering up for doc trhat infected me. I also found an atty to take the case for malpractice finally and I am working hard trying to gather all pertinant records for him Well that is my update, I hope you are feeling better my friend, sincerely

Rick - GOOD for you for not taking crap. It sounds like the infection is still there. Ask for a C Reactive Protein test, this will tell for certain. Also, check out NYU.med there are a LOT of good docs there. In fact, my uncle who has had 7 back surgeries and is still in pain (he also had an infection, it is NOT uncommon!) is coming from Texas to see some doctors here in a couple of weeks. I am SO glad you are discussing your case with an attorney. You do have a case as far as I am concerned. Get everything to them, even if you think it means nothing. THe best advice I can offer you is to sit down and tell your story from the beginning. ALL of it, every doctor you visisted, what they said, the pain, their responses and actions. This is what I feel helped me in getting a lawyer. Now I cannot wait to meet those F;s in court!
Keep on keeping us updated.... now, I remember seeing a post of yours in another forum here, and I was surprised again to see you, where was it?!
Best, Randi
