Hi,
I recently went off birth control after being on it for nearly 10 years. I am now having spotting the week before my period was due. A couple of times, it happened after having sex, but this month it just started on its own. My cycles have ranged from 24 days to 28 days since going off the pill. I am worried about TTC when there is a possibility of something being wrong. I have a Dr's appt in a couple of weeks...am I being overly worried? Anyone have the same or similar experience?

Do you remember what your cycles were like before? And, how long have you been off of the pill? It may take a few months to regulate your hormones and get your periods back on track.
Does it hurt when it bleeds (when it bleeds on its own and after sex)?
I like to get checked always, just in case, some women like to stay away from the doctor. But for me, I would rather go in and feel gross, than worry about it. And after one pregnancy, about 10 transvaginal ultrasounds, and a miscarriage, I am used to having my rear in the air....it gets easier the more you do it..lol.
There is something minor though that I have read about that causes random bleeding and bleeding after sex. It is a small cyst like thing that grows on the inside of the uterus and comes through the cervix. It is not a bad thing, and it just takes a small surgery to remove it. I am not sure what causes it (of if it has a cause). But it causes pain (I think) and bleeding during sex (and after); it can also cause you to have trouble getting preg. (but once its gone, no prob.).
Anways, before TTCing it may be a good idea to get checked, no use wasting time if there is something tiny wrong that could be fixed very early.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I am going to get checked out. I have only been off the pill for 5 months, so maybe my system is still regulating. There is no pain associated with the bleeding (which is usually why it is scary, because it is unexpected). I hope that it is nothing major and that it won't keep me from becoming pregnant!
