If any of you have had similar problems/symptons please let me know.
Two years ago I began bleeding excessively and had cramps that were so severe i couldn't move after a few days I went to the emergency room, my hemoglobin was half of what its suppossed to be. They did every test under the sun and they didn't find anything. (My perios lasted 20 days)They put me on Birth control pills and I got a blood transfusion. That summer when I went off the pills I didn't get it, in fact I didn't get it for like almost a yearexcept one or two light times possibly. Then last summer I got it again. Severly and heavy. They gave me estrogen to stop it and stuff and now I ahven't gotten it in 7 months. I want to know what is wrong with me... is it a blood disease? am I not going to be able to ahve children??? please help me!

You really need to find a good doctor and explain to him/her what is going on. Whatever it is, is definately not normal and should be diagnosed by a doctor.

BriAnn: I don't know what to tell you. I had Endometriosis and it caused me to have a period or two that were longer than normal, but not 20 days. My periods would be heavy for 7-9 days and then I would spot constantly for like 4 months with no period. I had HORRIBLE pains in my abdomin and the doctors would prescribe pain killers because Ibuprofen wouldn't help. Is it possible that you could have endo or fibroids or something? I would get to a specialist OBGYN that can evaluate your situation because it could definately make getting pg difficult, especially the older you get. Best of Luck to you. Jodie

It sounds like you are rarely ovulating, possibly due to PCOS or other hormonal imbalance. What happens when you don't ovulate is your body just keeps making estrogen, but no progesterone to signal a period. This causes the uterine lining to grow and grow and grow and never shed, resulting in a MAMMOTH bleed every once in a while. This is known as DUB or dysfunctional uterine bleeding. You need to see an endocrinologist and get checked for PCOS. You can also be put on progesterone pills to make you have a period every month or two, which will keep the uterine lining from building up so much. If you are TTC, medicines like Clomid can help you ovulate. Good luck!

it sounds like endometriosis. i got my period when i was 15, and a year later it became so heavy i was changing my pad once an hour and sleeping on towels. it went on for 20 days also, with a week of time of no bleeding. i always had severe cramps that put me in the ER on morphine IVs, and i started to have a white discharge.
next time you see yr dr, tell him/her u think u might have endo. they'll perform a surgery called a laproscopy, which you'll be asleep for. it's uncomfortable when you wake up, but the pain in your abdoman is gone, and it's the most amazing feeling ever. also spotting and heavy bleeding stops. birth control should control that without the surgery though, but if you want kids, i'd suggest the lap.

Do you have abdominal pain? It sounds like Endo or PCOS. You could have the stage 4 Endo (the worst). There's help. I have endo with symptoms like Crazy2tryagain. You need a good Gyno for treatment. Best of luck.
