Well - 13 days until I can take a hpt and I am going nuts. I am sure it will be the longest two weeks. I still can't help from worrying that if we do conceive that I will m/c again. I don't know how well I would handle it mentally or physically for that matter. I have been praying every tday that God will bless me with a child and allow me to carry it full term. My hubby is 37 and wants to quite trying. My body is burned out from doing the fertility drugs and this is our last cycle that we are doing the fertility drugs. So pray for me that it works.
Thank you to all of you who have been sending baby dust my way and for praying for me. I am returning the same to you. You are all great and are the support that I need.
Has anyone had success with IUI? I guess I want to hear something positive.

Amy,
I am hoping and praying for you every day. I am going crazy too. DH keeps telling me to calm down and just wait. Blood tests today were positive, I did ovulate, and u/s showed fluid, so that's the good news. Its going to be a long two weeks.

That is great. I don't know why my doc didn't do tests after IUI to verify ovulation. I have been having a lot of pain in my lower abdomen tonight and was releasing clear fluid? My mom said to call the doc but I will see how it goes. If the pain doesn't go away by the end of the weekend I will call them.
I am praying for you too and I hope you had a wonderful V-Day. Ours was very nice but DH wanted to take me to the late movie and I didn't feel well and I am really tired.
Keep me posted on how things progress and if you have any pg signs.

Jody & Jodie,
I will take my test on Feb 26. I bought a test today (it also had a free one) at walmart, just to make sure I had it when I am ready! Can you tell I am getting anxious. By the end of next week I will be driving DH crazy. He is such a sweeting but so afraid to get excited b/c he is so worried about going through the pain of losing another baby. I have been praying for you guys and for me too. I go to court on Feb. 24th (which I am also anxious for) but hoping will occupy some of my time and make this next 1.5 wks go by a little quicker.
I just hope the stress from court doesn't have a neg. affect on anything. I am trying to have a positive outlook on it b/c I think things will be to my favor (he doesn't even have a job, nor does he pay child support). In my opinion, he doesn't deserve the title Dad! Anyways (I am venting can you tell http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif), I am trying to stay positive and keep my mind of the constant wonder if things finally worked this month. I have been having wierd pains on both sides near my ovaries. I just hope nothing is wrong. Also had pain in the middle (hoping it is a sign of implantation).
Talk to you soon, baby dust your way,
Amy

AMS37, Amy, (Crazy - you still there?),
This is exciting. I am also having slight pains in my lower abdomen (Friday especially), and then last night, I felt really, really nautious (sp). I don't want to get my hopes up because it is probably too soon to have these signs, but I do feel a little different. Thanks for the stress advice. I will try to keep the stress down. My mom is out of the hospital now, and they never found ANYTHING wrong with her, after all of the biopsy's and everything. So, I am so thankful for that. Take care.
Good luck in court Amy. I am on the opposite side of the equation, I have a 6 1/2 year old step daughter (running around the house screaming as we speak), and we pay way tooooo much in child support! I keep wondering how we will be able to continue to pay this, and daycare if we get pregnant, but I know it will all be worth it. In case you are wondering, it is hard to take care of a step daughter when I can't get pregnant myself. I keep thinking, my DH ex-wife could give him a child, why can't I? Then I think sometimes that he doesn't care as much about this as I do because he has a daughter already. He assures me that this isn't the case, but I can't imagine how it can't factor in a little. Now, I am venting! Talk to you soon.

Jody,
I know what you mean about paying child support - we pay $300 a month for my 12 year old stepson. I also know what you mean about the ex giving him a child and you not being able to. THe only difference in my situation is that my stepson lives 2500 miles away from us so DH wants to have a baby really bad b/c he never got to be there for his son (we only get him for 4 wks in the summer). THe plus side, when you have a child together you can have the child support recalculated and it should go down because they will factor in that he has another child to support. My DH has been great, he has never once said a word about my ex not paying child support and I have never said anything about us having to pay so much for his.
I am venting too http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif! I just pray that I can give him a child. THe financial end is a little scary. I talked to my day care lady (for our daughter that is in Kindergarten) and she said for twins full-time it would be over $650 a month - for 1 it would be almost $400. That is alot of money! But like you said, well worth it. I got to stay home with my daughter for the 1st 2 years so I don't know if I could put a baby into day care. DH and I have talked about it and if we do get pg we are going to try and pay off as much as we can during the 9 months and save so we can afford for me to stay home for a while. My employers are pretty good though tso I think I could go in for just a couple hours a day and then have a private baby sitter.
Well I have jabbered on long enough. I am so glad that we are all right on the same schedule. You guys are my life savers! I am so glad that I found this site.
BB's are sore - pain is gone and we covered every other day since IUI with intercourse and for good measure http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif DH didn't mind at all LOL!
Let me know if any of you are having any new symptoms. Is anyone else taking progesterone (I can't remember from early posts). I wish this site had a live chat for us to go to and talk to eachother.

Every once in a while I get a twinge or sharp pain in lower ab. BB's a little sore off and on but again I think it is due to the progesterone. 9 MORE DAYS!!!! Yeah. Since I bought a two pack hpt, I will probably take one a couple days early just to see. I am horrible I know but I am the type of person who finds out what all her Christmas presents are ahead of time and then pretends to be suprised! I am awful.

02-17-2003, 01:34 PM
Thats funny about the presents at Christmas! I just have to add that I opened all my gifts one year to see what they were and then rewrapped them all and acted surprised! Terrible!
Anyway, I am also in my 2ww. Today is day 23!! YEahhhHH!!! I am having some major pg symptoms. Today, I can honestly say I feel different than I have in a while. My bb's are sore, but even more then they ususally are before a period. I have a slight amount of nausiousness immediately when I get up in the morning and I feel some stretching feeling in my abdomin. Now, don't get me wrong, I know I'm not growing already, but the feeling is similar to that. I don't have any crampy feelings like before a period.
I had an HCG (Profassi) shot on the 10th of Feb. My doc told me I could test 10 days after the shot which would bring me to Thursday the 20th. I don't want to take it that soon because I am concerned about a false positive. However, if history has a tendancy to repeat itself, I'll probably do it anyway!
BABY DUST TO ALL!!!

You are too funny - we are way to similar in so many ways. I have gone as far is slitting tape, taking the present out, gently putting it back and then applying another piece of tape (identical in size) over the first piece. I was the same way with finding out the sex of my daughter but they couldn't tell on the u/s so it almost killed me waiting until she was delivered. I was determined, however, and new in my heart, that I was having a boy!
If you can test 10 days after the HCG shot, then I should be able to test on the 20th too. I htink I will at least wait until the 22nd.
What type of test are you using? I bought an Answer test and I am going to look on the internet to find out how accurate they are and the ealiest day you can take it.
I am not having near the symptoms you are http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif I'm not too worried yet though. I did have a dream last night that AF came and I almost woke up in tears.

Taz,,,
My cousin is a pharmacist and he told me EPT is good (it has 40 mIus)to detect HCG surge.. Answer is 100mIus..which wont detect anything til later) This is just my opinion and was told by cousin since he knows alot in the pharmacy field,,,I saw a preg test dipsticks where u set it in ur urine in dixie cup wait 5 minutes and have a result...This is for impatient people haha like us all who cant stand waiting before an official pregnancy test.. The lower the mIu the better....
On another note to all......did u ever read too much.and feel like u get all stressed out cause u read way to much everywhere about either a fertility drug a procedure..etc...It is driving me mad.....arghhhhh!
I needed to vent..Now i feel like an IUI takes so long to work.,.. I have been reading where usually peopel dont get pregnant on it for at least 3 cycles..or not at all.! I know everyone is different...but I am reading too much.... I also had a dream that i was pregnant...and I wouldnt let 2 of my friends touch my stomach.. I said "it was too early" HAHAHA.
the stuff one dreams of........I can only hope

I am horrible. I look up all sorts of information which has also provided me with the following information about HPT's:
Week from the Last Menstral Period (LMP) Amount of HCG in mIU/ml
3 5 - 50
4 3 - 426
5 19 - 7,340
6 1,080 - 56,500
7-8 7,650 - 229,000
9-12 25,700 - 288,000
13-16 13,300 - 254,000
17-24 4,060 - 165,400
25-40 3,640 - 117,000
A woman can test as early as 8 days post ovulation and receive a positive HPT reading. On the other hand, it can take up to 17 dpo to see a positive HPT reading. And some women, though few, will never see a positive reading HPT - even though they are indeed pregnant. I have a good friend who never had a positive hpt with all three of her children!
You next need to decide which brand of HPT to buy. I personally have tried just about all the brands that I could get a hold of. I have heard rumors that some are not as reliable as others and some may give a false positive. Below is a list of HPT's - though not all that are available- and the amount of hCG they detect. These tests detect 20-25 mIU/hCG
AimStick Pregnancy Test detects 20 mIU
Clearblue Easy (U.K.) detects 25 mIU
Confirm 1-Step detects 25 mIU
CVS detects 25 mIU
Day Seven (CDN) detects 25 mIU
Health Check detects 25 mIU
Insta Test hCG detects 25 mIU
Lifesign One-Step detects 25 mIU
LifeSign 1 Midstream detects 25 mIU
One Step Be Sure detects 25 mIU
Rapid Self-Test (U.K.) detects 25 mIU
These tests detect 40-50 mIU/hCG
Boots (U.K.) detects 50 mIU
Clearblue Easy (U.S.) detects 50 mIU
Early Bird One Step (U.K.) detects50 mIU
early Pregnancy test detects 50 mIU
e.p.t. detects 40 mIU
First Response (U.K.) detects 40 mIU
Hannaford detects 50 mIU
Predictor (U.K.) detects 50 mIU
Rite-Aid detects 50 mIU
Selfcare detects 50 mIU
Target detects 50 mIU
These test detect 150+ mIU/hCG
Fact Plus detects 150-250 mIU

Consumer Reports just evaluated HPTs and ODKs this in their February Issue. They also wrote and excellent article about how they work and how to get the best results from them. They picked First Response as the best HPT and Clear Blue Plan as the best ODK.

Wow, this has been great information! I have a First Response with two tests from a few months ago (AF showed before I had a chance), so I am all set. I am the opposite of you guys. I will probably wait until the 27th (15 dpo) to do the test. I had so many times where I would take the test, it would come up negative, and then AF would show up a day later. If I figure the $20 in to the rest of the costs, it all adds up! Plus, I like to pretend a little longer (in case it comes negative). Last night I had more pains in my lower area. I am hoping its not cysts again like last month. No BB sore though. This is getting really nervracking!

Hi everyone! I am a first time poster. I didn't even know what 2ww meant, and it turns out that I am in the very midde of it right now! I am 39 and my partner and I are trying to conceive with donor sperm, IUI. I did follistim and HCG and am in my 10th day of waiting. It is insane. The HCG shot seemed to really hit me like a ton of bricks. But lately, I have been feeling like "nothing special" which is crazy-making. Anyway, I am on progesterone suppositories as well, and just waiting for the weekend so we can test....

Ratty - welcome to the board.
Jody - If i could add up the money that I have spent on hpts I would probably cry. Now that you say it I might wait too. Just a few more days without disappointment http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif Plus this week seems to be going quick. Last month I tested on day 10 got neg result and told myself it was just because it was too early to tell. On day 14 I tested again at 3:30 a.m. (I couldn't sleep b/c of the anticipation). It too was neg and when I woke up at 7:00 a.m. AF had shown up.
I guess when you look at it from a realistic point of view, we should weight. But on the other hand the anticipation can drive you CRAZY. I just have to take it one day at a time and keep telling myself to wait another day.
Let me know when you decide to test and I will do the same.

It is kinda like this, if I don't test I don't have to face up to the reality to the possibility of not being pg. I will wait as long as my sanity holds out. My tests that i have though take 100 Whatevers of HCG so I should probably wait until day 14 to be for sure.

Hello to all! I'm also in the 2WW!! I ovulated yesterday so now it's just the waiting game. My husband and i have been trying for 4 years and it's been a very long journey. Along the way i've had 5 miscarriages. The longest i carried was 14 weeks. After several test and DR's my new DR (which i LOVE) found a septum in my uterus which she removed about 8 months ago. SInce surgery i'm on my 6th cycle of trying. Usually when we try i'm pregnant (no fertility drugs) the 2nd or 3rd cycle. FOr some reason this time it's taking long. I had a Post-Coital test yeterday and everything looked fine. If i'm not PG this month we will do IUI for 2 months then my DR wants to start me on Injections (reproxex i think. From reading all of the previous post seems like we will be testing aroung the same time. I can test on the March 4 but knowing me i'm start testing early. I'm also on progesterone and the symptoms from that make you feel PG so i never know.

To the rest of you - I don't know how you can be so strong and will to wait so long. I wish I had that kind of will power. Honestly I don't know why I don't wait. My previous two pregnancy's (1 successful, 1 m/c) it took forever (or it seemed like forever) to get a strong positive. In fact the last one I took a test it was neg so I figured I wasn't pg (I can't go off late AF b/c I am so irregular) but my bb's kept getting sorer and sorer so 2 wks later I tested again and it was +.
I am hoping we all get +'s and carry full term, happy, healthy babies.

jnmttc: I just read your post and wanted to let you know that my doc didn't put me on progesterone either. However, I had a Profasi HCG injection. When I looked it up on the internet, it reads that Profasi helps your body to produce progesterone to prepare the uterine lining for implantation.
I am currently on day 26 of my cycle. I took a HPT today that came back BFN!! But it was the Answer test that requires 100MiU's so maybe it was too early. As I sit here typing, my bb's hurt and I'm feeling sick again. The sickness has been consistant since Tuesday so I'm hoping that it's pg symptoms!
On the other hand, I just went to the doc today and started on Zythromax due to a bad cold that I have. So my aches and pains could be the flu I suppose and the bb's being sore could maybe be from the Progesterone that the Profasi HCG injection created? I dont know what to think.
I'm going to take another pg test this weekend if AF doesn't come on Saturday. I have NO feelings of getting AF--usually feel crampy!

(I see if I can figure out what the brands were--it is all a blur!). Anyway, the first test said that you could check it in 1 minute. After 1 minute, it looked like a negative. While we were bemoaning that, we looked down at it at about 1 minutes, 30 seconds, and it was clearly positive. But then we wondered if it was a mistake. So we got another test, and tried it that afternoon and it was CLEARLY a positive. Two lines. No question. This morning I went to my fertility doc for a blood test and I'll get those results in a couple of hours. I just can't believe this is really happening. I have been SO nauseated.... We know that even if I am pregnant, this is just the first hurdle. But, my partner and I are freaking out/laughing/just holding our breath right now....

The first test we used was Equate. The second was (I think) e.p.t. Two more hours of waiting for the blood test results.....I am going crazy. Needless to say, I'll be getting no work done today.

Okay. I just got off the phone with the doctor. It is definitely positive!!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif I have never been down this road before--it is so exciting.
This was our first try with a fertility specialist. We'd done one IUI before that without doing any medications or anything. This time we did follistim and HCG and Progesterone. I feel so lucky that it worked so fast.
I want to wish every single one of you a day just like this one. Very very son!!!

Good luck Starr N. In a way, I was really glad that our doctor made me start the progesterone suppositories. Otherwise I would have felt like I had nothing to do. At least doing those things, and watching the pill bottle empty itself out over time helped me keep the waiting in perspective.

I wonder what's the difference in the suppositories and the oral prometrium? Besides the way you take it..just joking. I'm taking the oral ones. Do you or anyone else know? Thanks

I don't know much except that the actual progesterone that "gets in" is likely to be less exact using the suppositories, but that the progesterone in the suppositories doesn't have to be digested--it's delivered directly to its destination--so it doesn't tax the liver at all. I don't know any else off hand. I don't mind the suppositories, but they are messy.

Congrats Ratty G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here everyone seems to be on 2ww.....but i am on 1mw(one month wait) for my first appointment with an RE which is scheduled on 25th March.I hope my RE is able to do something which my other Docs missed. Anyway i am just curious to know what generally the RE do on the first appointment. My obgyn has already done blood test(FSH,LH,Thyroid),Ultrasonography,Pap smear,SA of my hubby, and recently a diagnostic Laproscopy to see blockage of tubes,Uterus and ovaries and everything seems fine.

RattyG I am so excited for you and DH. It is awesome when we hear that someone is pg. AF is due tomorrow hope it stays far far away. I fAF isn't here tomorrow I think I will still wait until Wed. to test unless the anticipation kills me and then I will test tomorrow. I am going to use an ept as they only require 40 mIU's. I am really not feeling any pg symptoms at all other than those that you get from taking progesterone so I am a little bummed about that but still praying for a ++++++++++++++++++++++
I will let all of you know tomorrow what happens.
Lot's of baby dust to all.

Follistim injections are not intramuscular. They are a BREEZE! The follistim kinda stings/burns when injected but it fades quickly. My partner did the shots for me, just to be a part of the process. But I think you could easily do them on your own if you wanted. They are not bad shots at all.
Thanks everyone for your good wishes. We have one more blood test on Wednesday to see if my hCG levels are doubling but so far so good!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Ratty G - I am so excited for you and DH - I bet you are excited too.
AF was do today and it isn't here so I am going to call the doc and go in for a pg test or go buy an ept at Walmart. I almost don't want to take the test for fear of getting a negative. THis is our last month of using fertility drugs so it is a little more depressing to accept the thought that we will never have a child together (DH and I each have a child from previous marriages).
Lot's of baby dust to all.

ok i'm only 7 DPO and i'm having slight pains in my uterus could that just be from the progesterone? The pains are not constant just every now and then. and yesterday i had a slight white discharge...what was that?? Baby dust to all especially to you tazink on you special day!!!!! Believe me i'm praying for you!!!

I don't know what the actual side effects of progesterone are. Did you also have an hCG shot to promote ovulation? After that I was MISERABLE with pains and cramps and bloating. My breasts were in agony. I don't remember about discharge--well, I was doing the progesterone suppositories so who knows what else was coming outta me!

First I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I keep looking at the clock @ work to see what time it is. I get off @ 3:00 and then I am calling the doc to see if I can come in, if not, I am going to get my test @ Wally World and take it tonight. I don't think I can wait until morning. And of course, regardless of the outcome of the results, I will post them ASAP. I think I will faint if it is a positive.
starrN - I had lots of cramps and pains and odd things happening but I don't know if it was from the HCG shot or the progesterone.
RattyG - I am keeping you in my prayers that all comes back good on your bloodwork tomorrow. Is this your first pregnancy?

Tazink, Yes, this is my first pregnancy EVER, at age 39. I am old to be starting this process, but my mom had my brother when she was 39, me at 41 and my sister at 43, and all with no help from a fertility expert.
GOOD LUCK to everyone who is testing today and tomorrow!!!!!

JodyC - I think we are on almost the exact same cycle -
Cycle day 1 for me was 1/29/03 - HCG shot 2/10 - IUI on 2/12/03 (pretty sure that is the day I ovulated) - so that makes today cycle day 28. I figure that if I would get a + tomorrow, I will get one today. I really wanted to test tomorrow but I can't stand the wait. Plus we live about 20 miles from the doc and I have to be in town today so it is easier if I can get in today and not have to make two trips. I hope you get a +. I have been praying for you and hoping that at least one or two of us gets a +. crazy2tryagain's AF ended up coming. I feel so bad for her. I was really hoping and praying for her too.
Well I gotta get some more work done.
TTFN,
Amy

Well I tested negative but they were almost laughing at me b/c it is way to early they said. They said they wanted to do a blood test on friday but hten I wouldn't get the results until Monday so I talked them in to doing on THurs evening (like 12 hours would make a difference). Anyways - 2 more days of impatiently waiting.
They said that some people don't produce a lot of hormone right away so I am hoping that is my case.
Good luck and baby dust to the rest of you - keep praying for me.

Well, I jumped the gun and did an HPT test tonight, BFN. Signs of AF are coming, so I think its just a matter of time for me. I'm praying for all my ttc buddies, though. It would make me feel better if at least one of us has a BF +++++++++

JodyC - you better not give up yet! As long as AF stays away there is a possibility of being pg. I keep telling myself that I tested to early and praying for a + when the doc calls on Friday.
I hope all of you get ++++++++++'s. Baby dust to everyone.
