I don't know what it should be but I have low - none so my doc has put me on a progesterone supplement. You take 3 pills a day starting with the day after you ovulate and continue until you menstrate or they will keep you on it through the 8th - 12th week. Some docs may keep you on longer but after a certain point your body decreases naturally the amount it produces during the pregnancy.

Hope this helps.

If you are on fertility drugs (eg,in this case, Clomid) - they want you over a 15. However, if you are 'normal' and not on drugs, the normal range is antyhing over a 5.
So a 10 is really good if you aren't on meds, but low if you are. HTH- Anne

I think a 10.9 means ovulation has occured correct? So I guess thats good!

10 is the bare minimum that it takes to support a pregnancy. If it drops any you won't be able to support a pregnancy. You may want to ask about progesterone suppositories or pills. The shots are painful and the suppositories are best absorbed by the body. If you continue to have low levels you may want to ask your doctor about Clomide to help raise the level. Also ask about your estrogen levels. Low estrogen can lead to low progesterone. Also low hormone levels suggest your follicules may not mature enough to create a fetus. Ask your doctor about all this and if it pertains to you.

I had this same question. I will be getting this same test on Monday. I found some info at fertilityplus.org. A level over 5 indicates some form of ovulation occured. Most doctors want to see a level over 10 on a natural cycle, and a level over 15 on a medicated cycle.

I had a progesterone level of 3.4. I think that sounds low, but two drs. told me anything above 3 means I ovulated. I even insisted a little bit by telling one dr. that my information said a normal midluteal phase is typically 12-15. I guess I should bug my dr. more. I was also just told today that my prolactin level was very high. I wonder if that can affect progesterone. Anyone know?

My info. says normal luteal is 3.3-26.0 (midluteal 4.4-28.0)so, I think 10.9 is quite fine. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Most things I have read on the internet, and my doctor, says that 4 or greater is ovulatory. However, low numbers usually do not result in pregnancy. Your number sounds like you were successful. Let us know results!
