This is the third time that I have posted to this site and I have not had any responses. My liver enzymes are elevated, ALT: 106, AST:129. My inferior vena cava is narrowed 70% at the hepatic veins. When the doctor did the venagram, they were looking for Budd Chirari syndrome. That is when they told me about the narrowing. Saw a transplant surgeon and he told me that I have NASH and that my liver is only functioning at 50%. One of the other test I had said that I have a low density area on my liver and I am very scared. The transplant doctor wants me to be followed by a GI specialist. I could not get an appointment until October 6th. I would appreciate any info that anyone could give me. I hope everyone is doing well.

Hi, what else did the liver doctor ask you or advise you? Did he put you on any type of diet for your fatty liver. I was told no sugar, low protein and to lose weight.....I took him seriously and haven't had sugar since......looked up low protein diets and found that included processed foods.......my liver enzymes in 5 months have come down and my liver is doing better. However, I am on medicine to remove ammonia from my blood because that is a problem.....are you taking anything for that at all. I have sjogren's which is an auto immune disease and has added to my problems but the liver seems to be complicated......I did have a biopsy done which said I have cirrhosis, but I just don't understand it like you.....also I am not a drinker so that's out.....this Friday I see a new doctor for second opinion on the sjogren's and in October I am getting a second opinion from a new liver specialist......I want more opinions from them....all.
Isn't your liver doctor G.I specialist? I think everyone on this board has more questions than answers so don't feel bad when no one responds, we sometimes don't know the answer.
