Yup, that is the keyword here, YOUR diet ;-)

Well, in general this is my diet and it is a HORMONE/Androgen/Insulin controlling diet:

Low Carbohydrate diet- by way of following a Gluten Free/Low Grain diet. I do NOT count the Glycemic Load/Index nor do I pay attention to the amount of carbohydrates/sugar that I eat. I still get plenty of carbs from Fruit, Vegetables, Legumes/beans, Nuts, and a few grains. The only reason I call this a low carb diet is because just by avoidng most grains, except Rice, Corn, and occasionally oatmeal, I am essentially "low carbing" because I've reduced my own personal intake from close to 75% or more carbs to maybe 40% - 50%. ( BIGGEST impact on my skin and eliminated my menstrual cramps)

Reduced GF Cereal/refined Cereal - I can eat cereals that don't contain gluten but for some reason, whenever I do, I breakout with pimples or small cysts in/around my earlobes. So I only eat a box a cereal every 2 months or so (with organic milk).

NO Soda - cysts

NO Cherries - cysts

NO Bananas - cysts

Otherwise, that's it. =) I also take a reduced dose of spiro (usually 150mg, but not everyday). I still eat like a busy college student. I still eat fast food, out at resturants, some canned and even frozen food. Heck, I even eat junk food (ice cream, yogurt, chocolate, BUTTER popcorn, etc) when I feel like it, but I don't usually crave sweet stuff.

I mainly drink water 90% of the time and when I don't it's tea/coffee or, sad to say, diluted (with water) 100% fruit juice (it's too sweet for me now).
Otherwise, the ONLY difference is that I don't eat foods that contain the above. Yes yes, I LOVE cherries and Banana nut bread and I can't have them ever again...well unless I want to breakout...and I don't. ;-)

hoped that helped, if not, here's more detail into my diet http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/018754.html (see page 2)

Good luck

Low carb, high protein diet.

Lots of meat - chicken, white fish, salmon, tuna everyday. Beef and steak every 2-3 days.

Lots of fruits - red apples, pears, apple pears, peaches, lemons, cantelope, honey dew.

Lots of veggies - Brocoli, cucumber, tomatoes, cautiflower, mushrooms, peas, spinach, lettuce, green beans, kidney beans.

Fruits and veggies juices - Cucumber juice! This is one of the best fruits for your skin. If you can drink this stuff and gulp it fast, it will help. Cause this stuff is plain NASTY to drink. But I try 1 cucumber a day, which is about 2 large glasses.

Other than that, I only drink water about 100 glasses a day. And natural homemade juices.

Lots of nuts and fibre - Bran flakes is the only cereal I'll eat, with soy milk. Almonds, pecans and brazilian nuts.

Multivitamin pill 1 a day
100mg of Zinc a day
100mg of Vitamin E a day
Celexa for my anxiety

Main thing I do is drink tons of water.
I also drink green tea everyday. This is really good for you and your skin.
I eat strawberries and bananas in oatmeal just about every morning. Some days hard boiled eggs with whole wheat toast.
At lunch I usually have salad with lots of veggies: cucumbers, green pepper, carrots, olives and I only use olive oil as a dressing.
And then somedays I will have a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, chix breast or turkey on whole wheat bread w/ mayo or mustard.
Dinner: salmon, pasta dishes, salads.
Snacks throughout the day: apples w/all natural peanut butter, Yogurt w/ strawberries, almonds, cottage cheese and fruit.
The key is lots of fruits and veggies, and lots of water!!!

Just some info...
For those of you who don't drink caffeine as it causes some of us to breakout for whatever reason, instead of drinking green tea, drink red tea. Red tea has the exact same things in it as green tea (more good antioxidants actually) except for the caffeine! Red tea is caffeine free and you gain the same benefits as green tea. The Red tea I drink (I am not sure if all red tea) comes from a flower in Africa...it is really good.

I cut out ALL meat and dairy products, I did weeks of researching and it turns out that meat is extremely unhealthy for you (i wish I could copy and paste the articles) and I'm on a low carb diet, very simular to Sweet Jade's post. All in all it's helped quite a bit in the past 2 months I've been on this, I don't get daily breakouts anymore like I used to. Though I think the main key is to eliminate all toxins from the body (also I've read).

In response to Wicketglen7, I have never heard of Red Tea. Please tell me more. I love tea now that I gave up coffee. Well I mainly just drink Green Tea. I love it. jagdm27, Okay, here is some snippits. I will do even more research and see all that I can come up with.

You've heard of the great gift of health from a cup of green tea, now there is Red Tea which provides even more health promoting properties. Researchers have discovered that Red Tea, an indigenous wonder herb of South Africa called rooibos (ROY-boss), is full of polyphenols and flavonoids which help protect the body from free-radicals that weaken natural defenses and eventually lead to aging and the onset of disease. Studies show drinking Red Tea daily can reward you with powerful anti-oxidants that help create a healthier, longer life.
Red Tea has all the benefits of green tea, but is completley caffeine-free.
All this info I got off the back of my RED TEA canister. The kind I got was sold at barnes and noble and is called red tea african rooibos herb. The republic of tea. IT is mixed with karoo tropical fruit. The ingredients are Rooibos, natural passion fruit flavoring, hibiscus, natural mango, vanilla flavoring, rose petals, sunflower petals, natural strawberry and grapefruit flavoring.
Okay, now I am off to search the web and will be back with my info on it...

Japanese Research into Red Tea
Perhaps the highest testimony of the benefits of this pure and natural beverage comes from Japan, a society famous for its age-old devotion to the art of tea making. Here, Red Tea has been promoted as a healthy alternative to other cold and warm beverages.

Japanese scientist Matatoshi Nakano, has discovered that the effect of free radicals -- a by-product of normal cell function -- in the process of aging and decline of the immune system is limited by the anti-oxidants in Red Tea. If the product is brewed/boiled for longer than 10 minutes, the anti-oxidant activity becomes much higher

They also found Red Tea to be beneficial in the treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes, mellitus, atherosclerosis, allergic diseases, various dermatus diseases, liver diseases and cataracts.

Red Tea as a likely Health Food Supplement

Prof Daneel Ferreira (D.Sc./H.O.D./D.I.C.), Mev. Charlene Marais (M.Sc.), Dr Jacobus A. Steenkamp (Ph.D.) and Elizabeth Joubert (Ph.D.).

a) Department of Chemistry, University of the Orange Free State, P O Box 339, Bloemfontein, 9300 South Africa

b) Infruitec, Private Bag X5013, Stellenbosch, 7599 South Africa.

ABSTRACT
Red Tea contains a variety of substances possessing the functional groups that are required for these compounds to act as antioxidants, i.e. scavengers of active oxygen species that adversely affect human health. In addition some of these compounds also exhibit other physiological and therapeutic properties which are beneficial for a healthier life.

1. INTRODUCTION
Aspalathus linearis is a leguminous shrub indigenous to the Cedarberg mountains around Clanwilliam near Cape Town in South Africa 1-3. Its leaves and fine stems are used for the manufacture of Red Tea by cutting into 5 mm length, rolling fermenting by leaf enzymes and solar drying in a process similar to that for black tea or oolong tea. The Rooibos plant is increasingly recognized as one of the relatively few economic plants that has made the transition from a local wild resource to a cultivated crop in the 20th century. In South Africa Red Tea is mainly used as a substitute for Oriental black tea by people who enjoy it either hot or cold, or by those who regard it highly as a healthy drink. It is a unique beverage with a characteristic sweet flavor and that is rich in volatile compounds 4,5, minerals and ascorbic acid, is caffeine-free, and is claimed to have a low tannin content (as gallic acid) 2,4. Owing to the absence of deliterious effects of the beverage on human health 2, Red Tea is rapidly gaining in popularity as a health beverage. Clinically, Red Tea is often prescribed against nervous tension, allergies and various stomach and indigestive problems.

The Anti Aging Tea?
It has been found that Red Tea contains a substantial amount of a very special enzyme, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) which is a prime preventer of Free Radical Damage. SOD also has the capability of preventing fats from changing into harmful lipid peroxide. As Red Tea also contains natural antioxidants, which help to remove or neutralize these toxins, there is growing acceptance that Red Tea could assist in countering the aging process and boost the immune system. Red Tea is also rich in Quercetin, the flavonol that has beneficial effects on numerous ailments. It is well known for increasing capillary strength, which aids in circulation, prevents hemorrhaging, and protects against infections.

In the late 1920's, Dr. Nortier, a well-known medical doctor and nature lover, discovered the Red Tea and began to promote its value. Since then, Red Tea has gone from strength to strength and is currently being exported to several countries such as Germany, Switzerland, England, and even Japan, a country renowned for it's almost sacred regard for the art of tea making.

Red Tea is a Tea of Purity
Red Tea contains no additives, preservatives or colorants. It is completely pure and natural and contains no caffeine.

Red Tea contains little tannin, a substance that affects the metabolism by decreasing absorption of certain nutrients like iron and protein. Growing children and especially women require added iron, so the decreased tannin can play an important role in improving the iron level of the diet.

Nutrients in 200ml. of Red Tea

Iron (Fe) 0.07mg
Potassium (K) 7.12mg
Sodium (Na) 6.16mg
Calcium (Ca) 1.09mg
Copper (Cu) 0.07mg
Zinc (Zn) 0.04mg
Magnesium (Mg) 1.57mg
Fluoride (F) 0.22mg
Manganese (Mn) 0.04mg

Benefits and Uses of Red Tea
Red Tea is the ideal drink for people with a busy lifestyle. It can be enjoyed in unlimited quantities throughout the day. It is a great thirst quencher for athletes as iced tea, or mixed with fruit juice. For the diet conscious, who are experiencing the stress of a restricted diet, Red Tea is a soothing drink, without adding calories. Because of its lower tannin content, Red Tea is less bitter than regular tea and can be enjoyed without sugar.

Red Tea is not just for making drinks. It can also be used in baking and cooking. Red Tea can be used in any recipe. Just replace the liquid content in the recipe with ready made Red Tea. It may be used as base for soups, stews, marinades, and sauces. Red Tea is also a natural meat tenderizer.

Red Tea for Mothers and Babies
Many desperate mothers have found that Red Tea relieves colic and stomach cramps in babies, when given in addition to their normal feeding. Some mothers have great faith in Red Tea to alleviate diaper rash. It has a soothing effect when applied to the affected area with every diaper change. Others believe it is useful in the treatment of certain skin irritations or eczema. Mothers will also tell you that this health drink relieves symptoms of allergies, hay fever, and asthma in babies and toddlers.

Japanese Research into Red Tea
Perhaps the highest testimony of the benefits of this pure and natural beverage comes from Japan, a society famous for its age-old devotion to the art of tea making. Here, Red Tea has been promoted as a healthy alternative to other cold and warm beverages.

Japanese scientist Matatoshi Nakano, has discovered that the effect of free radicals - a by-product of normal cell function - in the process of aging and decline of the immune system is limited by the antioxidants in Red Tea. They also found Red Tea to be beneficial in the treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes, mellitus, atherosclerosis, allergic diseases, various dermatus diseases, liver diseases and cataracts.

Health Benefits
The enormous health potential of Red Tea is becoming increasingly evident through studies done by The AICHI Medical University, Japan. The Japanese are calling it "Long Life Tea" Studies show Red Tea contains natural antioxidants, minerals, Vitamin C, alpha-hydroxyl acid, no caffeine, no oxalic acid and very low tannin content. The health properties and healing power of Red Tea are furthermore ascribed to the low tannin content and the variety of minerals it contains.

Scientific Research
It is also believed that antioxidants can play a role in preventing cancer and cardio-vascular diseases. Examples of well-known antioxidants are vitamins C and E. Red Tea is rich in flavonoids, which are very powerful antioxidants. The major flavonoid in Red Tea is aspalathin - found only in Red Tea. Herbs containing flavonoids have traditionally been used to treat capillary disorders. It is well known that flavonoids decrease the permeability and fragility of veins and lymph vessels. As a result, they are used to treat tiredness of legs, cramps and various skin and circulatory disorders. Flavonoids are often anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic, which may explain the benefit claimed for Red Tea skin lotions and cosmetic products. Some flavonoids protect the liver, decrease blood cholesterol or act as diuretic, anti-bacterial and anti-viral substance. Others are known to improve memory and counteract anxiety. Research by Japanese scientists have shown beneficial effects relating to constipation, liver function, blood sugar levels, skin diseases, depression and anxiety. In recent studies, it was established that Red Tea possesses antioxidative activity by Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD) mimetic substances and has effects on dermatological diseases such as Behcet's disease, Sweet disease and photosensitive dermatitis. Previous investigations of the chemical constituents of Red Tea have demonstrated the presence of the flavonol, quercetin and the flavone, luteolin with their known antispasmodic properties, and five additional flavonoid glycosides, the dihydrochalcone, aspalathin, the flavones, orientin and isoorientin, and the flavonol glycosides, isoquercitrin and rutin.

Sports Enthusiasts
Sportsmen and women enjoy Red Tea as it replaces essential minerals such as iron, potassium, zinc and sodium. The alpha-hydroxyl acid & zinc in Red Tea promotes a healthy and glowing skin.

Children
Red Tea is excellent for hyperactive children and relieves insomnia, as it contains no caffeine. Red Tea is a good source of vitamins and minerals. It can be used as a natural supplement as it contains calcium, magnesium and fluoride, which are essential for the development of strong teeth and bones. The minerals build healthy strong blood vessels, aid digestion and prevent tooth decay. Red Tea is also an excellent thirst quencher for school children and can be drunk throughout the day.

Infants
Babies love the natural sweet taste of Red Tea. Red Tea is often given to infants who are prone to colic and stomach cramps as it is considered to have significant antispasmodic properties. Its anti-allergic properties help relieve skin irritations and diaper rash. Anemia is a common problem during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Red Tea contains low levels of tannin -- the ingredient in other teas that prevents your body from absorbing the iron you need. Red Tea therefore increases iron absorption and also contains iron, potassium and copper - all vital for metabolic functions.

Red Tea helps delay the aging process! The aging of our bodies is caused by toxic compounds called free radicals, which are produced as a by-product of normal cell function. These free radicals attack our healthy cells. Over our lifetime this damage contributes to aging and our immune system weakens.

Red Tea helps to relieve stomach ulcers, nausea, constipation, and heartburn. Have a cup of Red Tea before you get ready for bed to ensure a good night's sleep! Red Tea has been found to help with insomnia, disturbed sleeping patterns and headaches. It contains no caffeine and has a relaxing effect on the central nervous system. Red Tea helps to give you strong bones and teeth because of its calcium, manganese and fluoride content.

Red Tea helps pacify infants with colic, stomach cramps and sleeping problems. Simply mix some Red Tea with breast milk or formula. It is 100% natural with no colorants or preservatives. It is a mother's miracle.

Red Tea contains alpha hydroxyl acid and zinc for healthy, smooth skin. This wonder tea is especially useful when applied to skin irritations like itchy skin, eczema, and sunburns, diaper rash and acne.

Red Tea contains magnesium, which is necessary for a healthy nervous system.

Red Tea increases the absorption of iron in the body.

Red Tea contains potassium and copper minerals that are necessary for several metabolic functions.

Red Tea is often prescribed for nervous tension and mild depression as it makes a relaxing sedative.

Red Tea contains no oxalic acid and can therefore be enjoyed by persons suffering from kidney stones.

Red Tea helps to control your appetite thus can be beneficial in weight loss.

Red Tea makes a great thirst-quencher and sport drink.

Did you catch that part? I just did. I wonder if they mean applied topically or just internally? Hmmm, I am not going to count on it but that sure would be cool if it helped bring the swelling down in acne etc.

Hi,
Anyone here tried the diet(raw food)at waisays.com? I've been working with it for about 3wks still have not completed the 2wk sample diet. It's very restricted for 2wks and then you add foods one by one
She thinks acne is caused by excess protein in the skin. The protein attracts water which pinches the sebum canals. i'm getting good results even though i don't follow it to the letter.

I think the raw diet is a bunch of crap, no offense. If it works for you fine, but it sounds ridiculous. I have also read the B5 supplement spiel, and while I think B5 may be beneficial, I do not think it is a miracle cure. If it works for you then do it, but I will not personally be trying it until I see significant results in other people.

For myself, I take a couple of supplements every night and also (try) to drink lots of water. I know someone with great skin who just drinks water so I'm trying to make it work for me. I also notice that I look better if I stay away from sugar... I know, I know, doctors, dermatologists, and scientists say that there is no relation to sugar intake and skin condition but I just feel BETTER. I usually consume massive amounts of it though so that's really not surprising.
