I have just had my second IUI on Friday. Although I did cramp right away on the first procedure, it went away on the first day.

My second has been totally opposite.....I started cramping yesterday...and get a STRETCHY ...Cramping feeling around my ovaries......

Has anyone experienced this before?? I was also taking Pergonal and was given an HCG injection prior to the IUI......

Any response would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks!

I definitely experienced feelings like that after my most recent IUI. The hCG really hit me like a ton of bricks and I don't think it wore off for quite some time. I felt a stretching feeling in my abdomen for a few days and actually that hasn't stopped much, now that I am officially pregnant!

Wow !!!! Congratulations!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!

So were you able to wait for the Dr. to do the bloodwork or did you try a home pregnancy test??

I got off the phone earlier with my Dr.s office and the nurse told me to take it easy because it sounds like I hyperstimulated my ovaries....

It would be no surprise there considering I had to take 3 vials of pergonal a night before my hcg injection and the IUI!!

Now ...I got a question for you.....did you feel your breast tender early on after the IUI????

Well, first of all, I was on follistim (two vials every night for about 8 days) and then had the hCG. I had ultrasounds every other day to make sure I wasn't You have to keep in mind that the hCG they give you to ovulate is the same thing that your body is flooded with when you actually are pregnant. So, the symptoms of that shot are the same as pregnancy. My breasts were killing me, I felt bloated and crampy and emotionally insane, etc. These symptoms persisted for quite awhile, then about 14 days after the IUI, I started to feel just horribly nauseated. Like the world was spinning. I was on progesterone suppositories and had been told they would make my period late, so not to put too much stock in that. Finally, after 15 days we tested at home and boom, positive! Two days later, I went to the doctor's office for a blood test and it came back positive, my hCG levels were like 266. Two days later they were about 522. So, now that I know I am pregnant, I can say that the effects of hCG were very much like the effects of pregnancy itself!

There is nothing like that horrible wait! The good thing, for me, was dealing with the side effects of the hCG and also doing those suppositories. Mostly because it made me feel like even though we were "just waiting" I was still doing things to reach my goal. Otherwise, those two weeks seem like just doing nothing--like you're not even trying anymore. It was nice to have something to do that was NOT taking a HPT but still made me feel like I was working toward something. The hCG injection stuff also helped me NOT take every little twinge in my body as a sign of pregnancy and to just relax. Try your best to do anything that might take your mind off of it and I hope you get a positive result soon!!!!

You are right....I too am taking progesterone and I am still on Glucophage as well.......

I am glad that I am off the injections for now....hopefully I will not need them next month.....LOL

My husband and I have an hour consult with the Dr. on Monday regarding IVF.....If this IUI cycle does not work, he was talking about me taking 5-6 vials of pergonal daily!!! OUCH!!

Enjoy the Pregnancy!!
