Well I thought it would be much harder to not do any more fertility treatments but I must say that I am enjoying my break. No more hot flashes YEAH! Also, I am on a diabetic diet and taking some pills to help me lose the 40 lbs. I put on from the fertility treatments and I am occupied with that so not thinking so much about my BABY FEVER. I am hoping that there is still a chance for us to conceive naturally. I have conceived 3 times naturally (only 1 successful pregnancy though http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif and 0 times on fertility drugs so I think may be my odds are better. Going on a diabetic diet is suppose to help with the PCOS.

I was really starting to feel the pressure of the fertility treatments and it was hard to decide to stop, I felt like I was letting my family down, but then I realized that sometimes I have to come first. Which in the long run will be better for everyone (I won't be so moody and miserable).

Also, DH and I are looking in to adoption which is also very exciting for me.

Best of luck to all of you and don't worry, I am not going anywhere http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif I love this board, I consider it my therapy http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

During the course of the 3 years we've been trying, we've decided to take a "break" many times. It's very helpful to step back and refocus on other things. I think it's helped dh and I become closer. It helps to relax. It does sound like the "natural" thing has better statistics for you. Unfortunately, I've never ovulated on my own in my entire adult life, so I'll always either be on fertility meds or bcps. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

I will be thinkin' about ya though. let us know how you're doing...........

Hey gals. I know how you feel. This is only the third round of fertility treatments for us, and I am going to take a break next month or the month after if this doesn't work. DH has never looked more relieved in his life than when I told him that last night http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif Anyway, I have been on plenty of other drugs too in the last three years, including Lupron, HRT, and progesterone for fibroid tumors, so I don't think DH knows who I am anymore http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/eek.gif

Jody, I laughed when I read your post. Poor DH is probably relieved he won't be worked so hard! HA...You should take it easy on him you know! hehehe

I know what you mean too! We decided to "relax" this month and it's such a nice break. No more "timed" BD--I get sick of that. I'm sure glad I'm not a guy because I don't think I could perform on command!

Anyway, I hope you don't have to take a break next month Jody!! I'll be praying for you!! BABY DUST YOUR WAY!!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif Jodie

40 lbs might do the trick. My baby sister (age 29) got pregnant after losing 43lbs. She thinks it was the weight loss that did the trick.

Good Luck on you weight loss program!

Not only will I feel better about myself when I lose the wait but also, being on a strict diet can really help with the PCOS and if we get that under control then getting pg should be a littel easier.

Thanks for all your support you guys! Your the BEST!

I wish you the best of luck with your time off!! As I mentioned somewhere, I lost 44 lbs about 6 months ago and I cannot tell you the difference in my overall feelings of well-being. I felt such a huge sense of relief and renewed control over my life. My energy level changed dramatically. I read a lot on the relation of overweight to fertility and truthfully it can't hurt to lose extra lbs! Of course, age is worse, but I realized I couldn't make myself younger but I could make myself thinner!

Amy, aren't you the lady with the zoo in her backyard? I've read quite a few of your posts and I am glad you are really at peace about this. I so hope that you do get pregnant while on this break and am praying that the diabetic diet will be the answer for you! I pray that you will still have your baby, and how awesome that you are looking into adoption!!! Congratulations are still due you! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/angel.gif

RattyG - Congrats on losing 44 lbs. Did you do it on your own or did you take diet pills? just curious and you don't have to answer if you don't want to.

Autumn Leaves - I am not the one with the zoo in the back yard http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif Thank you though for your encouragement and kind words.

Get this, last night I was real determined that I wouldn't have another child naturally and so I decided to go through my maternity and get rid of them. I COULDN'T do it! I thought I wouldn't have a problem but the thought of some day of being pg are still lingering in the back of my head so I decided to hang on to them a little longer.

Well girls, I hope we all get the answers to our prayers.

I did it as a kind of shadow weight watcher. My girlfriend actually attended weight watchers and I just sort of followed the program vicariously. I am telling you it was NOT hard. I never felt like I was suffering. I also made an effort to cut back on carbs. I had been eating a lot of pasta when I gained this weight (I had gone vegetarian for two years). I started just cooking smaller portions, working out more. Also, WW has this point system and some things are zero points--and I would eat TONS of zero point foods like salads and stuff all the time. I was never hungry. I am glad that the habits seem to be "sticking"--I am no longer trying to actively lose weight and have not been trying for about 6 months. I went from 184 to 140 and that has been just right, for me. I seem to have stabilized around 136-142.

This has been a good experience. Because hopefully in about 7.5 -8 months I am going to have some baby weight to lose!

I have never tried diet pills. I am a little afraid of them.
