Hi,
I have been getting headaches which have been very painful and tablets will not stop the pain. However recently I have had headaches constantly on the left hand side of my head, a stabbing pain.
I Have been gettin this every day for about a week now and it is constantly on and off all day.
During the last few days I have felt very weak and faint and my headaches have been mor painful.
I have been to the doctors and they gave me some tablets saying I have a migraine however these tablets do not help at all and I still get the pain.
Does anyone know what I should do or why this is happening?
Thank you Abi

This is not normal the symptoms you are displaying are typical of a migraine, however what your doctor has given you has not helped so go back to him/her and say that you still have the same symptoms and the tablets you have been given are not helping. Further investigation is urgently required like a brain scan to see what is going on. Don’t put it off phone ASAP and ask for an urgent appointment

Abi,
I'm new to the board and so Happy I found some information on Migraine headaches.
My Neurologist is under treating me and when I got my medical information the wording was terrible.
Why is it that doctors under treat migraines for just a plain old headache.
I was very sick, vomiting, blurred vision, and had a numbness going down my left arm.
I have had migraine that were treated by a wonderful neurologist doctor until he left the practice to teach at a college and hospital.
Let's hope I get to find a good neurologist that will treat me the way I was treated before.
As the saying goes why fix something that is not broken.

O.k. Just simple info on migraines. Migraines are caused by blood vessels dilating in your brain, this in turn increases pressure on your brain. Simply put this results in pain. Drugs such as ibuprofen, and aspirin work buy constricting the vessels or thinning the blood (respectively).
Naratriptan HCl - Naramig (brand name). Is a very strong drug, be careful not to OD. But hope that this one will work for you :)

I get migraines like this. If one med doesn't work then talk to your dr. Some meds work for some but not others. Also ask about being on a preventative.
