We know that my estrogen and progesterone are really low. I've had 2 very early miscarriages. If we know about the hormone issue and we know I can get pregnant is there really any reason to do the procedure?

Labs-R-4-Me 01-29-2003, 08:41 AM We know that my estrogen and progesterone are really low. I've had 2 very early miscarriages. If we know about the hormone issue and we know I can get pregnant is there really any reason to do the procedure? Lady^ 01-29-2003, 09:25 AM Honestly, I think you should go ahead and have the test done, even though it may seem unnecessary. You can miscarry an ectopic pregnancy just like a uterine pregnancy, so unless you had an ultrasound before you miscarried confirming that your pregnancy(s) was uterine you really can't rule out a tube blockage. It's also possible to have one good tube and one blocked one, meaning you could have a uterine pregnancy one time and an ectopic another. I think it's best to know EXACTLY what you're dealing with whenever possible, and your doc probably feels this way too. Blastoff9600 01-29-2003, 01:52 PM Another bonus is that many women get pregnant within three months after this is done. I had one done in Nov/Dec of 1999 and got pregnant in Feb of 2000. There is a woman on the pregnancy board that just had one in Dec 2002 and just found out she is expecting now. ams37 01-30-2003, 01:01 AM I had HSG done too.. I had water based dye...I hear oil based dye is better........to get pregnant quicker..... I may be wrong. but I read that somewhere.......... HSG was a littleuncomfortable but tolerable......... I got myself so worked up over it...that I got so nervous..........but it was over in about 5 minutes ..tops......! all was clear too!!!!!! Labs-R-4-Me 02-19-2003, 02:24 PM Well, I had it done and I have a blocked tube. Only the speculum was painful. I was sweating after they put it in. After that everything was a breeze. I couldn't really say I had any cramping from it, but I did bleed some. But it was worth it and I think if they'd had a smaller speculum that wouldn't have hurt either. So if anyone has to do it, it's worth it and shouldn't be painful. CURIOUSCHICK 02-19-2003, 04:55 PM That's inspiring news. I am getting my period and am supposed to schedule my HSG for immediately after. I gotta admit I'm getting a little worked up about it. It honestly has not helped my emotional state to read on this site and about how horribly painful it was to some people. I guess people have different thresholds for pain and different perspectives. I'm just gonna wait it out and see how it affects me, but I'm a bit nervous. What is going to be done about your blocked tube? Is the other one present? I only have one because of an ectopic I had in Nov/Dec. It will be hard to hear the news if it is blocked, but I guess we will look into in-vitro if so. One step at a time. . . Good luck and congrats on taking the next step to find out what's happening in there. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif Starr N 02-19-2003, 06:55 PM Hi, Don't worry about the HSG i had 2 done and i was fine. JodyC 02-19-2003, 09:35 PM Good luck CURIOUSCHICK. hannah2 03-16-2003, 05:32 PM Well I'm glad to hear a little positive news about the hsg. I am scheduled for an hsg this month as soon as I get my period. I should be getting my period by next week. So of course I am afraid but like you say, I will take a motrin one hour before the procedure. One more thing, I hear that you can get pregnant a few months after this procedure, so if this is true, can I get a sperm from the sperm bank and have artificial insemination with this sperm inserted in me a couple months after this procedure, and have a possible pregnancy? Thanks, I will appreciate your answers. Emster69 03-16-2003, 05:52 PM I don't know why not, Hannah2. They had me start a clomid cycle directly following that procedure, so I don't know why that procedure couldn't happen, too. Hope it all works out for you! EM |
