Yesterday my mom went to the Dr. and the results from her CT scan showed a spot on her liver. My mom just turned 65 and is taking a lot of medication for heart diease, thyroids, cholestrol and anemia. does this now mean cancer or could it be aside affect of one ofthe medications? WE have not slept all night .........

NyLa707,

I understand your panic as I too had a spot found on my liver by sonogram. First thought was cancer and I am only 34. I could only think of leaving my kids. After many tests they found out it was an adenoma not cancer caused by birth control pills. There are a lot of medications that effect the liver. I was told it could be fatty liver, hemangioma, fnh, or an adenoma. Since an adenoma can rupture or turn to cancer I had liver resection on June 26, 2008. I was told that liver cancer is very rare and more times you have cancer somewhere else and it spreads to the liver. I would take your mom to someone who specializes on liver surgery. That was finally when I got a straight answer and when my tumor went to the lab it was an adenoma. Please ask any questions as I am here to help others since they helped me. Hang in there and take it one day at a time. My thoughts are with you and your family.
