I have been suffering with Chronic headaches for over 2 years now. I have always suffered with the odd normal headache, but over the past two years they have been more intense and more regular. I seem to have one every day now. Ive been to the doctor who has prescribed me some migraine tablets to take when a headache/migraine breaks out. I have also been for a blood test. She has said about me having a brain scan which scares me to death! Is anyone else suffering with this and if so what treatment are you on?

Hi, This may be a long-shot but I had chronic headaches and finally realized it was caused by using Splenda. One Splenda would give me a terrible headache for 3 days. When I stopped, the headaches stopped. So, if you use it, try stopping for a week or two and see if that helps. Otherwise, I have no idea. Good luck.

By all means go for the brain scan having had them for 2 years it is time to check into a few test. I had a brain MRI and a MRI of the neck..........dont like being in the MRI machine but at least it doesnt hurt. I have Chronic head and neck pain for 20 years my doctor has been talking about doing a MRI but they put a clip on your finger to test the spinal fluid flow. I think that is called MRI W/CSF. I have pain in neck and mostly the back of head with pressure and also pain behind my eyes............everyday and havent found anything to take the pain totally away. Pain pills just take the edge off and I hate then but have no options.
You really need to look into this it is hell having to walk around everyday with headaches. Take care

It took years with the same symptoms and daily headaches but finally my DH has found help and relief by going to a TMJ/TMD dentist. Yes, the problems are with the jaw!. Do some research on the subject and you may be startled by what you learn. Be SURE that you go to a TMJ/TMD specialist. WELL worth the money.

I have the same symptoms!!! I have had TERRIBLE migraines for years and did some research and read that sucralose cannot be broken down by the body...it can cause havoc on your entire system. So i stopped and so did my migraines. I have been off for a loooong time, and my headaches have not returned. Yesterday, i decided to add a packet to my coffee just to see what happened, and l had a terrible headache last night, all night, and this morning. It's finally subsiding now and it's 9:28a. I also read that Splenda is actually Sucralose, which is the culprit. You know what? sucralose is everywhere, and no wonder i've been feeling like crap for all this time.

If you research Splenda side effects, there is a whole slew of information. I will not return to Splenda or sucralose, if i can help it.

Good luck and i really hope you feel better.

Miriam, I'm sorry you're going through this...but I for one can certainly relate...I'm going on 3 years of Migraines. It's been since then since I was lucky to have a day without a Migriane. Sometimes if I get up around 3am to take 3 meds to get a handle on it, then I can get to work by 8am...but if the meds don't work, then I'm vomiting, sweating etc....total meltdown...head throbing and ususally ends with a trip to the ER.

I take 3 different kinds of medications 4-6 times a day so I can exist.

I have underwent many different tests....even went to see specialist in Boston...one of the tests did indicate that my oxygen level drops to 77% at night, and well, being an EMT, I know that's not good, they confirmed it. So I'm on 2 litres of Oxygen at night now, sometimes it helps with the headaches, sometimes not. I'm waiting to meet with an Ears/Nose/Throat doctor. 2 specialist noted that my airway is too narrow.

They also found out that I have spinal fluid build up in the base of my brain....

I just get tired of having headaches.....and they are getting worse....it's starting to really affect my vision......some days it takes every bit of energy I have to go to work...

I feel your pain, I hope they get some answers for you and everyone else that suffers.

Let's hope 2009 is a better year for all of us....

If you are suffering from severe headaches , believe me i feel your pain, been there for 10 years .
I think you all need to hear me out for a second then consider your history and consult your Doctor.
Starts with headaches over time they increase in frequency and intensity, then more odd headaches and pressure in your head when you lay down.
hearing problems, jaw problems and neck problems
and headaches everyday.
weird spasm and twitches and spots in your vision

then you wind up seeing a bunch of different doctors for different symptoms
then you might of had bouts with fevers and body stiffness and aches
and all along you have have fatigue from all this and of course never sleeping right when you feel so bad
It can be LYME DISEASE, this is how it manifested in my case. Never had a bite and no doctor ever tested me for it. finally a new doctor did and it came up positive and we did a series of other test to be sure and it came up with another infection carried by ticks called BABESIA.
All can be treated and i am currently one month into antibiotics for LYME and BABESIA. I had test that showed it was an old infection it took years of symptoms getting worse and looking back now it makes sense. you do not have to live in any rural area to get this , I dont.
Please if any of this sounds familiar it is worth asking your doctor for a test what can it hurt.
If i was checked years ago all the suffering could have been avoided.
good luck
