Hello, about two nights ago I started to get the feeling like my throat was closing in. I am unable to take very deep breathes. It feels like someone's choking me and it only recedes when I'm lying down on my stomach. So sleeping isn't much of an issue. I do have asthma. However, I'm also going through some other problems and I'm wondering if it's anxiety. I am also on an anti-depressant. I've been talking my inhaler regularly but it does nothing! Last night I went to an urgent care center and he prescribed me two things to target the inflammation. It hasn't done a thing and I'm worried. Anyone know?

The only thing that I can think of is some sort of allergic reaction but you already went to an urgent care center so I don't know. I wouldn't fool with it though. You probably need to get rechecked.

There's all kinds of things it could be. Some things that come to mind: vocal cord dysfunction (often found in people who have asthma; often confused for asthma); goiter (enlarged thyroid due to hyothyroid); allergic reaction; GERD (a common symptom of reflux is the feeling something catching in the throat, or of tightness). Reflux is pretty common in people with asthma.
I have throat tightness much of the time. Mine is usually not that bothersome. Mine is some combination of gerd and probably a bit of VCD.

yeah, it's just weird because i never had it before. luckily late last night it went away. i think i was having an anxiety attack. see, my girlfriend and i were going through something serious..then we talked it out last night and everything's ok now. i then noticed my tightness in my throat and breathlessness went away.
