Hi
I'm doing injectables and IUI.
My RE tells me the HCG shot triggers ovulation.
I have always done my HCG shot and done the IUI 18 - 24 hours later .
My Dr never does blood or a sono after the HCG to see infact I am ovulating he just does the insemination. . I did My HCD last thursday , IUI on Friday , IUI on Saturday , BD with DH on Sunday . Here it is on Monday + my ovaries are hurting . Could I be ovulation today 4 days after HCG?
Does any one elses RE check ovulation after HCG ??
Thanks for the info

My doctor checked to see if I ovulated with an u/s once out of six cycles that I was on clomid. He usually just checked before the hcg shot to make sure my follies were the right size.

my RE also checks my follies and when they are in the right size, around 18/20mm, I get my HCG shot.

I think the HCG shot is a sure thing....it will make you ovulate 24-48 hours later even if your eggs aren't mature. That why they do all of the egg checking before HCG. My RE checks the progesterone level 5-7 days later to make sure that I have ovulated.

I know how you feel. With the Injectables cycle I was on, they did the HCG then IUI at 24 and 48 hours. We did the bd every night but about 4 days after the shot I started feeling the sharp pains in my ovaries that I thought were "ovulation" pains. I'd heard that the twinges were the eggies breaking out, but then I heard somewhere else that the twinges were AFTER you ovulated. Anyone know for sure?

My doc does the IUI EXACTLY 36 hours after HCG shot. He has never had me come in to check ovulation. Here's my question--if you use the ov predictor kits at home, do they work or do they "misfire" because of the meds?

I'd like to know about those "twinges" too. DH and I did our thang last night too - I'm supposed to start my progesterone suppositories tonight - so I dunno about this whole ovulation thing after the HCG. I'm very discouraged thinking my eggie might still be in my ovary. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif And I have to wait until wed to see if I even ovulated.

I was reading this book and it said the a sharp pain is normally your egg bursting out down the fallopian tube. also it said that the cramping is from the linning thicking, so it this is true --- everything looks good !! Looks like we are going thru this cycle together ---- did your doctor tell you your LH level ?
mine was 11 --- and my linning thicken was 9 -- don't know if that was great or just good ???!!!!! keep in touch !

I too have gone through 1 cycle of injectables and IUI. I'm am taking Glucophage 1500mg everyday and clomid 100mg cd 3-7. On day 10 I'm to start taking the OPK and if there is a change in color prior to cd14, then I have to go in with DH http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/love2.giffor 1 of 2 consecutives IUI. If no change in color by cd14, then my RE does and u/s and checks my follies. If they are of good size, then he would inject me there and a couple of hours later, do the IUI.

It is my understaning that once you get the HCG shot, then it meaningless to continue using the OPK. The HCG induces ovulation so you will ovulate a 1 to 2 days later.....

Hope this info helped, and lot's of luck this cycle guys!!!!

P.S.

I'm on cd5 waiting anxiously for 2nd IUI. Do I have any cycle buddies! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bouncing.gif

Thanls for the info .
my RE never gives me #'s just tells me if they look good or not . I guess I should inquire . He does comment on my lining - " nice lining". I'm trying so hard not to obesses about this . I'm finding it hard to balance too much info + too little info . I am finding with each unsucessful attempt I'm becoming more + more obsessive,
