Hi,

Just started clomid today. I heard that this may affect the lining of the uterus. Read somewhere - maybe even on this board - that robitussin may help the situation. Were they talking about the syrup? How much do you take?
Anybody can share their experiences?

Hi Ivona - I read this board everyday to check in and see how everyone is doing, though, I have not posted in awhile. I saw your post and thought I would respond as I did in fact do 5 rounds of Chlomid with trigger shot and timed intercourse. I took Robitussin, as did dh, 2 tsp 3times a day. I did this the last day of Chlomid through ovulation. Hope this helps! Baby dust your way! Jen

From what I understand, Robitussin can be used to improve your cervical mucous by thinning it out as it does other mucous in your body. I don't think it has an effect on your uterine lining.

You are right - I meant mucus.

Ivona,

My friend had 3 IUI with no success and she had to pay for them because her ins. did not. One day jokingly, I told her about the robitussin trick. Since her DH SA always came back different I thought maybe that could be the problem. Sure enough she did the robitussin and got preg. without IUI or fertility drugs. Unfortunately, the baby did not make it past 6 weeks. 4 months later, she did robitussin again and she is preg. Her progesterone is low so she is on the injections but we kid around that she spent $2000 on the dr. and I got her pregnant with a $6 bottle of robitussin. You need to get the one that is an expectorant. I think the main ingredient is Guarifesin (sp?). It can't hurt. She started taking it 5 days before ovulation 3x day. Hope this helps.

This is a very good question, I have been wondering the same thing. I just finished up a round to Clomid too, I think I'll try. Every bit helps.
While we're on the subject, what's the deal with the baby aspirin? Is that good if you're on Clomid and/or tussin too?
I don't want to overdo it with the otc remedies, but I'm curious, and heck, any bit helps.

My RE put me on Baby Aspirin because of my elevated level of anticardiolipins. Apparently this can cause the blood to be too thick, and not enough for baby. The aspiring is to thin the blood.

It's NOT something I would take without the recommendation of my doctor. There is risk associated with aspirin in pregnancy- it's just that in my case, the risk of another miscarriage outweighs the risk of aspirin in pregnancy.
