I visited the doctor a few months back when they did some random blood tests. My bilirubin levels were elevated, and after discovering this my doctor stated she thought that it was Gilbert's Syndrome, but wanted an ultrasound to just be sure. I went for the ultrasound and everything was normal with that. Ever since, I seem to be feeling a dull ache under my right rib cage, it is not there all of the time and isn't very intense. It is just really weird because I didn't start feeling this until the past few months. If my ultrasound was normal, and my doc didn't seem too concerned and seem to think it was Gilbert's syndrome, should this be a cause for concern? I am wondering if I am imagining this more than it is really there now that I know where liver pain would be. I am a worrier, and I am thinking I am dwelling on this too much causing me to feel this dull ache that is really nothing. I have been trying to cut back on taking advil and usually just drink socially on the weekends, and not even every weekend at that. Please help, I am worrying myself into thinking that there is a problem... Thank you.

Hi Lindsay. I would hope that if your tests were okay that you don't have to worry. Just make sure to keep an eye on the labs.

There is a reason why your bilirubin is elevated. You may consider visiting a hepatologist...or a liver surgeon. They see livers on a daily basis and are more experienced than a primary care physician to diagnose liver issues.

I am just worried. I have lots of headaches, what do you take for them since advil is bad for your liver? And if my bilirubin is elevated, that isn't only associated with the liver right? I don't know what to think.

Hello Lindsey,
I have to agree with Neens. I would seek out the advise of a specialist to resolve this, right off the bat.
Wondering, worrying and imagining, are all human traits, so you're smart to look into this for yourself. The real progress comes in knowing the truth, so it makes no sense to spend too much time in the worry phase-just jump right into the learning phase. I thing you will find a lot of support here, and hopefully some answers you are looking for.
p.s. If you do have any liver issues, you will be in the right place...and there is great treatment for liver disorders. I wish you the best!
