i hit my toenail on my big toe, and i went to the hospital and they stitched both sides back on, i have a very sore and tender spot down in the bottom right corner, what to do, i am also on humira and methexate for rhumetard arthitris

The nail plate is attached to the nail bed by a series of rails and grooves and rides forward on these rails and grooves much like a train rides forward on its tracks. It grows in attached from the root forward, so as the root (Matrix) developes new nail plate cells, it will eventually push the damaged portion toward and off the free edge.

You may want to soak the nail in very cold water to help with any pain, then follow with a drop of peroxide to help prevent or kill any bacteria that may be trapped around the nail unit.
