Hi everyone,
just wondering if any of you could help me out, basically im having difficultly with british nhs!!! Ive been to see 3 diff doctors (basically im in the surgery evry week for past month!) and am now waiting for ultra sound on my gallbladder which has been a month since it was ordered and still no letter of a date!
History-since April ive been suffering heartburn daily and nausea on and off and if i overeat i have this horrendus pain that start below sternum through to back and around lower ribs feels like my chest is in a vice,i usually vommit with this also. This pain happens once a month and im being fobbed off with co-codamel and pethadine tabs each time. From looking at posts on this site im 99% sure its gallbladder related as my mum also had gallstones around the age i am now(30) and had her gallbladder removed, only wish i could talk to her but she sadly passed away 7yrs ago.
cut a story short, i like to know off anyone exactly how long did you suffer like this till you had proper diagnosis and had the damn thing out!!
Thankyou xx

hi
sorry to hear you're having trouble. the first doctor i saw wasn't my actual gp, just someone standing in for him. i had just had my 2nd gb attack which was so severe i just screamed at my daughter to get me an ambulance. that doctor told me it was a tummy bug. i didn't see a doctor at a&e as they were busy and the pain had gone by then. the 3rd time it happened i saw my own gp who diagnosed gall stones and sent me for a ultrasound which comfirmed it. i saw a surgeon about three weeks later and had my gb removed 7 weeks later. the government guidelines are that from referral from your gp, to a surgeon, to the op date should be no more than 18 weeks. good luck with your scan and hope you get your problem sorted out.

Lay off all fat until you get this sorted out. Fat (milk, cheese, meat, etc) will set it off.
