why are my toe nails growing thick and constantly ingrowing however I cut them. I cant keep paying my chiropodist 35 pound a time to cut them for me but cant stand the frequent pain and discomfort and not being able to walk properly as a result. Please help.....

If painful recurring ingrown nails are a problem, the doctor can cut away a portion of the nail root to permanently remove the sides of the nail.

Hi Mart,

I went to my GP, he just gave me some antibiotics to clear the infection. I then said to him that it was not going to stop it re-ocurring. Its a nightmare getting doctors to do anything. I thought as it was infected they would refer me to the hospital to get the nail taken off.

You need to see your PODIATRIST who specializes in problems of the feet. If the one you are currently seeing won't do anything, find someone else.
