ok so my girlfriend came to my college to visit me last month but there was only one problem....her period was on. So she skipped it by skipping her placebo week and there was no problem. well she is due to have her period this weekend and both of us are home. So naturally we had sex before it started but we noticed that she has a thick dark blood globby substance that we only noticed after we were done having sex. I would like to believe it is only blood clotting/tissues built up from her skipping her period and that she wil just have a worse period this month. But i would really appreciate it if i could get some insight on what this is or anything to help put my mind at ease i would be SO greatful,
Thanks

lemme restate that. So you can put my girlfriend's and my mind at rest. She's just as worried because she said it wasn't normal

it is probably old blood that was flushed out by the semen.

If you are both really worried, call an ob/gyn or the student health center at school and talk to a nurse. Knowing that her period was about to start and she skipped her period last month, she probably had a build-up of blood and mucus that wasn't released when it should have. That "glop" was probably part of that, and I would expect her to have a heavier period this month. The best thing to do is check with a women's health professional. It is just one phone call that may help you feel a lot better!

I don't know if your girlfriend has a lot of experience using the birth control pill but skipping the placebos and taking the normal pills instead is just going to affect her menstrual cycle and cause hormonal alterations.
It may take some time for her period to normalize. If she's too worried then maybe it would be a good idea to visit a doctor for further orientation.
But I don't think there's anything to be too concerned about.
In the future she should always stick to the cycle to prevent these problems.

and now her period was supposed to start on sunday of this past weekend and it is now tuesday. she reassured me that it is not uncommon for periods to be a couple days late and that she doesn't want to stress on it because stress can cause a women not to get her period. could skipping her period mess up her hormones and be the cause of this period being late now?

Well, the pill is really a hormone treatment so any changes in taking them will affect her menstrual cycle and her hormones. I've made mistakes with the pill and suffered some minor hormonal changes (weird painful pimples, changes in the cycle and menstrual flow, stuff like that). Since it's the first time something like this has happened to her she might want to consult a doctor but it should be a matter of her body readjusting. It should be able to normalize on its own.
