hiya im new here. just joined today cos i really want some info on my mum. She has been in hospital for three weeks with severe fluid retention in her legs and was acting strange, as if she were drunk all the time. after messing with the medication she was given for her bad back, (she has arthritis and underwent a spinal fusion 2 years ago) and doing various tests they have now told her she has heart failure. i was so shocked and am now going crazy with worry about how long she has left. the odds are against her, she is 55 and has mild cpod, (a lung disease) and still smokes though she said she will quit for good now. I just wan to know the bare facts on my dear mum and know how much time i have left with her. its really got to me and im starting to think she wont live to see my 4 month old daughter grow up. Please help me with some information thanks cat

sorry to hear she is so ill
might be conjestive heart failer
which no one can say when someone lives or passes
that is not our job
however my dad is 81 and gets it alot and is still living
i would say the reason she acts odd is from lack of oxegen to the brain
hopefully they will get the fluid off
can the doctor help you any by asking them?

thanks for your reply hopesprings. asking doctors over here is like talkin to the wall but i will try. mum is out of hospital now, but she is so different, so frail and weak. you are right about how she is acting, it is fluid in the brain. i will stay in touch in case anything new comes up! thanks again!
