I had my appointment with the endocrine doc Friday, he said I may have PCOS it does look like it but he needs blood work to confirm. He gave me a pill to take dexamethasone and I have to go in the morning for blood work. He recomended me to see a gyn also, I made the appontment for next week. my af came but it started last week with spotting on the 19 and it is still here. It is not like a normal one because I have clumps coming out. I wear panty liners at the most it seems to only come down at certain times and when I use the bathroom.
I am begining to get really scared and sad because me and dh had a really heated argument about everything. I don't know if I am being overly sesitive or what but I am sad and I really want to become a mother (I pray everyday for a beutiful and healthy baby). I am sitting here writting with tears in my eyes, feeling really sorry for myself for the moment.
I pray for baby dust all around.!! And good blood test results
btw---He is testing for thyroid, liver, hormones- and a few other things.

Hi there - I'm sorry you're going through this right now. I have PCOS too and I was once put on dexameth a blah also, just like you. If your blood work comes back okay, have them do an u/s - this is really one of the only ways to truly diagnose PCOS. Your bloodwork may be fine (like me) but your ovary may be polycystic. Looks like little pearls decorating your ovaries. I hope you don't have that - http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/mad.gif
As for your DH, make certain he knows that he is who you depend on the most through all of this. I'm sure he hates to see you hurting. I'm so blessed to have the support of mine - he wasn't always as he is now and I think he feels awful because he realizes that we will never be fully at a point in our lives to bring a little bit of me and him into this world. But he realizes that just like me, he is ready to be a daddy. Of course, I would be the momma. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif
Stay strong! Good luck with everything!

Things will be ok. I think all of our DHers feel left out of alot because we get all the testing done and have to take all kinds of wacky meds. Momma was right- tell him you really need him right now. My DH is wonderful but sometimes the pressure gets to be too much and we both start screaming at each other. 3 weeks ago we were screaming and cursing in the car outside church before mass. Everyone staring at us!! You need to concentrate on yourself and get all the tests done so you can see what your next plan of action is. If your DH is driving you crazy just remember that most men are big babies and just use us for support. We are hear everyday ready to give you ((hugs)) and support.

I also have PCOS with all its classic symptoms. It took me almost 2 years to be ddiagnosed, so I was reaaly glad when I finally found a doc that told me what my problem was and the treatment for that condition.
Even though I am not insulin resistant, Iīve been taking an insuling sensitizing drug called Glucophage XR and I already got pregnant twice (but m/c at 5 weeks). So there is hope for PCOSers! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif And we have some pregnant Cysters here on this board! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif
It will happen to us too!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/angel.gif

TMER - you made me laugh out loud - boys are nothing but BIG babies, huh? I think they need to feel that they are part of this process too because their want to be a daddy is probably pretty close to our want to be Momma's. Well, maybe not quite that obsessive - but I'm sure its pretty close.
Let me ask you ladies - I hear about Glucophage (Dr. said my blood work doesn't support the need for this med) and Metformin and stuff. Have you heard of using Avandia? I have a friend in NC who claims she has PCOS and she went through the injections (only 1 cycle) and then straight into IVF, since ins covered this, but couldn't follow through, I think, because she hyperstimulated. Anyhooooo - she claims she got preggers with her son, Davis, off of this drug.
Have any of you heard about this? I wanna be on drugs like that so I can get pregnant!

Plm....It is good you r consulting an RE. I had very regular periods but since last 4 years it became irregular....i started skipping them 3-4 times a year. Most of the doc said that is ok!!!But i could not accept it as my periods were very regular. For last 4 years i went from one doc to another who said everything was fine as all the blood works came out great.3months back i even went for lap and again the same answer...PERFECT!!!A month later i went to an RE and after listening to my problem he said i may have PCOS and the transvaginal u/s confirmed i have mild pcos.So i got the answer after 4 years of struggling. So don't take anything for granted and just keep on moving until u find a satisfactory answer to your problem.

My ecdocrine doc told me I needed to see a GYN and he just toof blood and I have to wait 3 weeks before I get my results from the blood I took today. I know that dh loves me he has been trying to be the strong one saying all along that I am bugging and nothing is wrong. He went out of town and spoke to an endo. doc. and he said he scared him beause since then he is scared to make love to me untill we find out what is wrong. Plus I keep bleeding. Anyone experience wierd periods. I onlt bleed at certain times. When I put on a pad I don't bleed but when I put on a liner or use the bathroom I have those clots coming out. Please let me know I'm not going crazy.

Plm... as i have written in my above post that my periods became irregular in last 4 years.Well sometimes it happened that my periods used to start and not end.....get the usual bleeding for 3-4days and then heavy to lights spottings for days.I once remember having period(bleeding &then spotting) for more than a month.then when it used to stop it never used to show up again. When i took provera i started getting breakthrough bleeding too. Then my doc told me to test for hypothyroidism and yes my TSh level was slightly low causing all the problems even though i didnot have any symptoms of hypothyroidism.I started taking medicine and that problem never showed up again though now i have also been diagosed with mild PCOS.

momma,
I was taking metformin+avandia when I got pregnant last year. Avandia is a drug used to lower the androgen levels (usually elevated in PCOSers)...My new RE thinks I donīt need it right now.
I take Glucophage XR and I love the results I get from it! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif Iīve been ovulating on my own for almost a year, and got pregnant twice. Besides that, most of the PCOS symptoms have almost disappeared! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif I donīt have cysts on my ovaries anymore, have less mood swings, lost LOTS of weight, etc.. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tongue.gif Even though I am not insulin resistant, it has helped me a lot! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif I hope my RE allows me to take it through the whole pregnancy.

Minouche,
I used to take Avandia too. My old gyn prescribed it in place of the glucophage. My RE says it's prone to cause liver damage. He took me off of it and put my on metfomin. I couldn't stomach that. I think based on your advice a few weeks ago, I asked the doc to try Glucophage XR and it's great. No feelings like I'm going to throw up and no diarria.
Thanks,
Mindy

Mindoo,
That's wonderful news!!! What dosage are you taking? I started with 2000mg daily since the beginning and I could see the results immediately (I got pregnant twice in less than a year and started ovulating on my own!). I hope you can see changes (for the better) in your body ASAP! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
I took avandia only for a month...it really can damage the liver, so my RE had planned to monitor it closely (through bloodwork).
Keep me posted! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
