The embryologist phoned me at 8am this morning to say that we have 9 "normally fertilised" embryos. I nearly fell over in shock! Of the 16 eggs I had removed yesterday, 12 were mature and 9 fertilised normally. We'll have the 2 "best" embies put back tomorrow and the rest fertilised. DH is in shock as well!!
Even though DH's sperm only have 4% motility and he has a very low count, we were still capable of making 9 normal embryos. Wow. I was so negative about this whole IVF/ICSI thing, and thought it would never work for us. During all these weeks of treatment, I never dared to hope we could get to this stage. Now we know that, even if we never get any further, at least we were capable of being parents, even if it was only of 24-hour old babies.
You girls have been the best. Your support has helped me through all this. This bulletin board has been the best for me! I'm going to have to go and lie down to take it all in now! (And what sensible advice about antibiotics - I must have been high yesterday when I considered going against the doctor's advice!!)
Hugs and baby dust to all you wonderful people
