Hello,
After I got back from my honeymoon, I was quite fatigued and was having some abdominal pain below my rib cage on both my right and left. I seemed to be sweating for no good reason, and I generally felt sick. I went to a doc, who performed some blood tests. He found that my ALT was elevated at 70. (I believe over 55 is excessive?) During my exam he said that my liver felt enlarged, and when he pressed on it, it hurt! He stated that it probably wasn't anything to worry about, and that I should have my labs rechecked in 3 months.
I probably overdid it on our honeymoon; we went to Mexico on an all inclusive vacation. So I was drinking more than usual and eating fatty food.
I understand that having abnormal liver tests is not a good thing, so I quit drinking alcohol, have increased my intake of raw vegetables, and am trying to exercise more. I am not really overweight to begin with, but I could stand to lose some weight. This has not relieved my symptoms of sweating (particularly after I eat), feeling itchy, abdominal pain under my ribs, (stabbing) and fatigue. I have a weird, metallic taste in my mouth. This has been going on for one month. Should I be more concerned? How long does it take to recuperate from something like this? I don't want this to develop into something more serious, and God forbid, leave my new wife behind. I'm frankly pretty scared. Any thoughts on the seriousness of this and what I should do? Thanks!

it was so very smart of you to quit drinking. i hope when you return for your labs that the enzymes go back to normal. just keep taking care of yourself, don't take any meds and see if it goes back to normal. if not, they will do more tests. good luck.
