why does my son cough when he lays down He takes allergy meds in the morning and before bed. But every night he can't get air and just coughs.

You don't mention whether your son has been diagnosed with asthma, but it's fairly common for asthma symptoms to be worse at night (for reasons that aren't fully understood).
