View Full Version : 3 positives in a row with OPK test?

I'm new to charting and this is the first time I've used an OPK test this month and I'm confused  It said on the package that there is no need to test once you got a positive, but I did anyway, because I was curious...

My question is: why did it give me three positive days? I'm also temping and I had a drop in temperature (from 97.3 to 96.8)right before ovulation (which I read was possible) and for the last three days it's been the exact same temp at 97.5

Any thoughts?

Just might have been from the LH surge having like a false start or something like that. If I were you and it happens again I would start temping so you can see if you really are Oing and so you know when alsong with using OPK.. that happened to me once well maybe. I used an OPK and it looked like it wasjust as dark as the control line so I just did another one the next day and it was darker than the control line.. I think I just may have tested a little too earyl but three days in a row is a lot. so def try temping see how that looks!

Hi jessjjm,

thanks for your reply. I did temp though, like I posted, and according to the temps I O'ed the day after my temp had dropped, because it had gone up 7points (from 96.8 to 97.5), which is exactly what one of the books said, could happen... my cm was up to date as well, it being very stretchy and egg white-like, which it isn't anymore today and I still get a positive...

I also had three clear negatives the day before my first positive, so I definitely didn't start too early. My book also said, that if I were using an OPK it should only give me one positive day, or else it was a faulty test...but then again they seem to be very against the tests, too ;)

anyway, like I said, I'm new to this and it probably will take me a few months to figure out exactly what my body is doing.

thanks again

I am pretty sure that they stay positive for a while, I dont know how long, but a while. That is why they say to stop when you get a positive. When I used those I think I got the positive after I had already Od, they will stay positive as long as the LH surge lasts, which can be different in different people I think. Also I have heard that those things are positive when you are preg, but its to early to tell for you.
Thats why I quit those things, to confusing!

Thanks quibby!
yeah, I think I won't use them anymore either. Charting is new to me, but I have to say, I could get into it! It's kind of fun to see what my body is doing all day, haha!
Anyways, that was really helpful information, thanks!

I am the one that put a post on LH SURGE and Pregnancy. I had three positive tests in a row too. I can tell you todday after going to an OBGYN I am definitely pregnant. I will be one month on Nov. 3 roughly. So just because you had more then one poitive does not mean they do not work!

Congratulations on your pregnancy Katrina!
Oh, I know that they worked, because I also charted temperature and mucus and it all pointed towards an LH surge. I just thought that I'd only get one positive, possibly two, but not three! Anyway, I won't use them again...hopefully I won't have to anymore ;)

Hope all goes well with you!
