View Full Version : I found something AMAZINGLY simple that is working well-head and shoulders

Hi---this is my first message and wanted to share my sucess in clearing my skin.

1. I use HEAD AND SHOULDERS shampoo as a cleanser (the zinc is supposed to be a strong anti-microbial agent)

2. 100 mg of zinc tablets/day
3. 400 iu vitamin E
4. 70 mg of chromium picolinate

I really think the Head and SHoulders has worked wonders--I'm about 50% clearer after about 1 month of using it. I like it because it has been more effective than any other treatment-after trying EVERYTHING--and its so cheap. One bottle lasts you forever.

I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if so, if it has worked for them.

Please respond

if you look back at some old posts i said i used it and loved it. the zinc is great for your skin, and you can wash your hair and face at the same time, i havent used it in a while, but i think im going to start again.. I also use it on my body and it helped to clear my body acne.

I was just wondering about this today!

Head and shoulders has selenium in it as well, right? Isn't this supposed to help acne?

Yes-It does dry out my skin, but no more than your typical benzol-peroxide cleanser. To remedy the dryness, I find that applying the clear aloe-vera gel right after washing eliminates the dryness.

I'm havn't heard about the selenium issue, although I'll look into it, now that you mentioned it.

I also found that applying vitamin K gel (available at CVS) is working well to reduce redness, and accelerate healing. It also helps with dryness from head and shoulders.

With all this flury about what cleanser to use, I'm surprised more people havn't heard of the head and shoulders treatment. I noticed results in about a week.

hey zinc-man,

i think its great that you found something you like. with all the products out there, its so hard to find one, you know?

I'm very interested in the vitamin K gel you are using. I had once heard that Vitamin K can cause cancer, but i just looked that up again on the internet, and it appears that studies have been done with infants and vitamin K causing cancer. other studies suggest Vitamin k3 and C together might cause cancer. so it doesn't seem like it's worth worrying about at all.

So now I have a whole load of questions...How often do you use the vitamin K gel? what does the package say its used for? Is it moisturizing? Does it say non comodegenic? How much did it cost?

Thanks so much!

ZincMan,

I used Selenium sulfide as a mask last night. Selenium is found in H&S and Selsun blue, correct? Selenium sulfide has a strong antifungal agent in it and helped my tinea versicolor I developed last year. Coincidently, it cleared up all the acne on my arms. So, I decided to try it on my face. It's a bit smoother and tighter but no noticable results yet.

Does 100 mg zinc make you sick? I started taking 50 mg yesterday and felt no stomach discomfort although I have a headache today.

Misty,

You shouldn't take more than 50 mg. of zinc a day, because it can be toxic.

chromium picolinate appears to be the only form of chromium that has mutagenic/carcinogenic potential. b/c it doesn't absorb properly. i would switch to chromium GTF or 'chromemate' if i were you. it can be hard to find and you may have to order it. but it's much more absorbable and doesn't appear to have the possible adverse side effects or picolinate.

Zinc-Man, are you using the aloe vera gel out of the bottle or the plant? I think I'm going to start using it because my face is always so dry. It won't break me out will it? Thanks http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
