I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I started a 9 day treatment of prednisone 5 days ago...
Sat night as I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep, I noticed my heart pounding. The next day I was fine, but it happened one more time during the day. It feels like what I've read about heart arrythmias....fluttery heartbeat, somewhat irregular and like your heart is pounding outside your chest, just racing. It also happened today while I was in a seminar at work and it has been going on for several hrs this evening as I sit here and relax. It has always happened while at rest. My husband thinks I'm just uptight I think, but I KNOW this isn't normal. I talked to my mom who is an RN last night and she said it happened to her before but she was ok. This is getting to a point where I am getting REALLY scared now and it is also very annoying. I don't have any shortness of breath or pain.
Maybe I should call my ENT tmw that put me on the prednisone or my family dr....not sure. I really could use some thoughts/advice please!!

If it didn't happen before the predisone then I would not worry. Pred is a pretty strong med and I would think that could be one of the side effects. Stick it out for the next 4 days and see if this goes away when your done. Chances are they will. Misty

Hello,
Could be Atrial Fibrillation - many things cause it, depends on several factors and your age. I know - I live with it in the back of my mind all the time. I found a medicinal cure - for now - let me know more about your situation and I could tell you more.
Steve.
I just went to the doctor today, due to the racing feeling, and like my heart is missing a beat. I work for a PT clinic and they sent me to a referring doctor. They did an EKG and found that my heart was skipping beats consistently. I am only 30, I feel so weird when it happens...its awful...no pain, but it feels like anxiety. They put me on bystolic...which lowers your blood pressue but is supposed to help with the heart skip thing. I hate taking meds...any advice? I feel pretty scared right now too...They can't tell me why this is happening....some say stress and some say too much caffeine...has anyone taken bystolic before? Just wanted to let you know you are not alone...

how often does it skip and how long do they last?
make sure you are drinking plenty and take a vitamin
